Divas4Divas at the Araneta Coliseum
Divas4Divas featuring four of the country’s best female singer is fast becoming the most eagerly-anticipated concert in local music history. And why wouldn’t it be, considering that it will see Kuh Ledesma, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Pops Fernandez and Regine Velasquez joining forces in one show? (It will be held on December 6 at the Araneta Coliseum.)
Rowell Santiago has confirmed that he will be coming on board as the show’s director and Louie Ocampo will be its musical director. All the four divas will wear costumes designed by different couturiers one of whom is Edwin Uy, the creative mind behind the costumes that Vina Morales wore for her Showgirl concert.
The line-up of songs that the four divas will be singing is exciting. It includes a number that will be a tribute to their international counterparts like Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. The divas will also do a Madonna medley, which will see them donning costumes that are a sight to behold.
But perhaps the number their fans will look forward to the most is the one in which the four divas will sing each other’s hit singles. For example, Zsa Zsa might do Dito Ba, which was popularized by Kuh in the late 70’s, and Pops might sing Regine’s Dadalhin and so on. Whatever they end up singing, trust us when we say that that number is not to be missed.
Kuh, Zsa Zsa, Pops and Regine have also worked on some other production numbers that are guaranteed to draw applause. That’s why they are thrilled that this early, the public has responded very well to Divas4Divas. Tickets are said to be selling at a brisk pace—some even say that the possibility of a sold-out show isn’t too far off. Even the show’s producer, Precy Florentino of the Music Museum, which is celebrating its 20th year this year by mounting Divas4Divas, is happy with the buzz it has generated thus far.
At the moment, Kuh is attending to all the last-minute details and production concerns like costumes and production and set design in order to make sure they come up with a world-class show. They are also preparing for the rehearsals with the band, which will start soon under the direction of Louie Ocampo. And last but not the least, a rehearsal with dance master Douglas Nierras.
Everyone involved in the making of Divas4Divas are forces to be reckoned with, so you’d better buy your tickets soon if you don’t want to miss out on a world-class concert event. Tickets are available at the Music Museum (7210635 and 7216726), Headline Concepts (5517253 and 5517255) and all SM Ticketnet outlets (9115555).
