Pops Fernandez 'hurting but healing'
Two weeks after her nearly two-year romance with Jomari Yllana hit the rocks, Pops Fernandez said that she’s still “hurting” but on the way to a full “healing.”
Although she agreed with Jomari that, contrary to initial reports, money had nothing to do with the break-up — and neither was there a third party — Pops admitted that she was caught by surprise by the suddenness of it all.
“Sa totoo lang,” Pops said in her first ever post-break-up interview, “I was shocked.”
In yesterday’s Funfare, Jomari said that they broke up amicably — that is, no fights. It happened barely a month after Pops and ex-husband Martin Nievera starred in their reunion concert Missing You at the Araneta Coliseum, produced by Fearless Productions, first project of Fearless Productions, the company Jomari has put up with the Singson brothers Ronald and Ryan. (Fearless’ next projects are the concerts of American Idol David Cook and AI finalist David Archuleta sometime in May, and Britney Spears sometime in September.)
Asked if it was a mutual decision, Pops was mum. Funfare sources said that it was Jomari who initiated the break-up, for what reason Pops said she didn’t know.
“I didn’t expect it, I didn’t see it coming,” continued Pops. “Maybe it was due to pressures before, during and after the concert. I don’t know. I am clueless.”
Jomari said that it isn’t just a “cooling off,” it’s final. He’s noted for not looking back — you know, to quote Pops when she finally admitted years back that she and Martin had split up, “When it’s over, it’s over!”
Is she drawing strength from people close to her, perhaps including Martin (whose own love life is subject of all sorts of speculations)?
”No,” said Pops. “I can manage; I can take care of myself. I was shocked for only a few days. Yes, as I’ve said, I’m still hurting but I am healing.”
