Willie Revillame personally settles issue with Wowowee contest winner
Willie Revillame met with Mrs. Nena Santos during the live episode of Wowowee today to explain what really happened to her Pera O Bayong house-and-lot prize. Mrs. Santos had complained about the house and lot she was promised after winning in the Big Time Pera O Bayong game segment of the noontime show last July 7, 2008. The house, which was said to be located in the Santa Barbara Villas II in San Mateo, Rizal, was to be awarded by Globe Asiatique. But Mrs. Santos said after several months of coordinating with people who claimed they were part of the Wowowee staff, Mrs. Santos was still unable to get her prize. She was given the ‘permit to occupy’ by Globe Asiatique and she immediately went to see the house. But she learned that the house was not brand new but a repossessed one and not even fully furnished, contrary to what she was promised.
Mrs. Santos brought her complain to the media’s attention. Alarmed by her claims, ABS-CBN immediately issued a short public statement to clarify the matter. "ABS-CBN together with Globe Asiatique is in the process of investigating the claims of Mrs. Nena Santos about the prize she won in Wowowee. We will make sure that Mrs. Santos gets the prize due her as soon as the important details are ironed out. To date, Wowowee has given out 19 houses without any problem. This is the first time we are encountering a problem like what Mrs. Santos has raised."
Willie talked to Mrs. Santos on the live program to settle the issue. “Mayroon pong nasa diyaryo ngayon, frontpage. Mrs. Santos seemed pleased after hearing the assurance from Willie himself.
The host further appealed to the media who are sending malicious reports that tend to disparage the integrity of the show and the network.
