Laarni Lozada graduates from college
Chalk up another achievement for Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA) Season 2 Grand Star Dreamer Laarni Lozada.
After conquering the hearts of PDA fans with her versatile voice, Lozada achieved another milestone this April after finishing her Secondary Arts Education degree at the Philippine Women's University (PWU).
Lozada (real name Laarni Losala) said her road to graduation had its highs and lows. A working student since her freshman year at PWU, Laarni said she was determined to earn a diploma even while honing her considerable vocal talent.
"From the very start kasi, nung first year college pa ako, independent na ako. Walang nagpapaaral sa akin kung hindi sarili ko lang. Working student ako. Noong second year, nagkaroon ako ng scholarship pero nung third year na ako, nawala ang scholarship ko dahil sa pressure sa trabaho, pagkanta, pag-aaral, yun ang big challenge ko, walang scholarship," she said.
Lozada said she left her hometown of Isulan, Sultan Kudarat to pursue higher education in Manila when she was 15. Shifting her course from AB Music to BS Education, Lozada still kept her dream alive by singing in various social functions and singing competitions and even joining the PWU Church chorale, the Ambassadors of Light and the Malate Church Chorale.
Still, nothing beats the natural high of earning a degree less than a year after winning Pinoy Dream Academy.
"I've always wanted to graduate in an exclusive school in Manila. I'm proud that aside from winning Pinoy Dream Academy, I'm here and I've graduated," she said.
Now that she's graduated, Lozada said she will concentrate on her career while setting her sights on the National Licensure Exams for Teachers.
"After this, concentrate na sa trabaho. Ang learning process ko, continue pa rin. May review for board exam, magte-take ako ng board exam," she said.
Lozada said she is still savoring her accomplishments, which have come at an opportune time of her life. "I feel so proud that after all these years of blood and sweat I've finally graduated," she said.
