Jed Madela: Marami pang hindi alam ang mga tao sa akin

Jed Madela revealed during Star Magic’s birthday presscon last July 30 that people still don’t know a lot of things about him aside from being a seasoned stage performer. He said that he also works hands-on behind-the-scenes in his concerts and live performances. “Actually, marami pang hindi alam ang mga tao sa’kin. With my live performances, the concept and stage design, I do all of it. I just hire kung baga a director pero it’s all my ideas. Dinidikta ko lang kasi I’m on stage, mahirap naman ‘di ba, pero I tell them ‘I want it to be like this, ito yung flow’, and I believe that yung concert for every artist it’s a story, so it’s your personality na pinapakita mo sa tao. Hindi talaga ako bilib sa naghihintay langng ididikta sa kanila. Ako hindi, sobra akong hands-on from the costumes to the wardrobe. Kaya pag successful ang concert masarap ang feeling.” Jed said.

Jed also reveals that a lot of people assume that he can sing almost any song, but he actually has trouble hitting the low notes. “Sa low notes ako nahihirapan. That is where I stretch, pababa. Like when I speak dun ako sa baba. Sa low notes pa talaga ako nasisintunado minsan.” He further revealed that unlike other famous singers nowadays, he did not have any formal training. “My father kasi is a choir teacher so every evening, yung choir niya dinadala niya sa bahay. Yung training niya napi-pick up ko. On my own I practice, and siguro sa pagbabanda ko rin dati dun ako nahasa. I trained by myself.”

He also adds that he has experienced being a stand-up comedian in an event and was relieved that he was able to make people laugh. “Parang I see myself na may rapport din on stage with the audience. Like for example, there was one time may nag-ask sa’kin to perform for their event. Sabi 30 minutes singing, 30 minutes na comedy talk, so para akong stand up comedian ang dating.” Jed said while laughing.

When asked if he will consider venturing into acting, he said that he believes he still has to get a calling for that. “Siniseryoso ko lahat ng mga ginagawa ko so gusto ko pag pinasok ko ang isang bagay like showbiz acting, prepared na ako. So as of now singing lang muna talaga and performing on stage. Gusto ko talaga live. In the right time, maybe I can get into acting through musical theater.”
