Maxene Eigenmann says she not a threat to the Kim Chiu-Gerald Anderson love team
Maxene Eigenmann told ABS-CBN.com that people often ask her if she feels pressured to become a good actress because of her showbiz lineage. Maxene is daughter to acting great Mark Gil and noted beauty Bing Pimentel and sister to indie fave Sid Lucero. But the 21-year-old beauty prefers to not be compared to the rest of the famous Gil clan because she’s determined to make it on her own. “Yung pressure mas nafi-feel ko sa ibang tao hindi sa family ko. Kasi it doesn’t make a difference being an Eigenmann in the industry or at home kasi when we’re together chill lang talaga,” she said during the press conference of Agimat, Ang Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla PresentsTiagong Akyat.
Maxene was supposed to be part of Habang May Buhay but since its cast has been changed thrice she’s grateful that she finally had the chance to star in her first ABS-CBN series. “It’s such an honor because it’s a remake of a very popular series of movies back in the day and that was during my dad’s time also. Tsaka konti lang ang girls so nakakatuwa din. Ang sarap ng feeling kasi this is only my second show and I am already playing opposite Gerald Anderson,” she exclaimed. The pretty mestiza noted that her leading man is a definitely a heartthrob. “He’s very quiet in person and gwapo siyempre. Lahat naman ng tao alam na gwapo si Gerald Anderson,” she beamed.
Though they barely knew each other, Gerald and Maxene were able to establish a comfortable working relationship due to their outgoing personalities. The young actress further shared how she first broke the initial awkwardness between them. “It was very funny kasi during the workshop, we had to read our choice of children’s books, memorize, and re-enact it in our own animated way. Napansin ko na pabalik-balik siyang magbasa ng isang book. I was like, ‘Are you okay?’ Sabi niya, ‘I’m having a hard time picking a book.’ As in second or third conversation lang namin yun. So ako I gave him The Hare and The Turtle e di ba ang dali lang nun kasi everybody's familiar with the story. Sabi ko, ‘You can have it.’ Sabi niya, ‘Talaga?’. ‘Oo akin na lang itong The Boy Who Cried Wolf,’” she fondly recalled.
But with Kim Chiu-Gerald Anderson team-up fans being very protective about the Kimerald tandem, Maxene clarified that she has no desire to come between Kim and Gerald both in reel and real life. “I can tell you that I’m no threat. It’s not a problem because I’m here to work. Lahat naman tayo we have to make a living right? I live on my own na since January last year. So I just want to prove something to myself. Pero sana ibigay pa rin nila yung support nila para kay Gerald. At the same time, bigyan din ako ng chance na ipakita yung kakayahan ko bilang artista kasi learning experience din ito for me e,” she stressed.
Maxene hasn’t started taping yet for the show, but she promised that there are a lot of exciting things to look forward to in this action-serye. “It feels good to be working with Gerald especially after the workshop because I got to know the other side of him. He’s very serious about his work. That’s one of the reasons why I am also excited to start taping with him because we’re both passionate about our craft,” she stated.
