Megan Young joins "Us Girls"
MEGAN Young is, at 19, the youngest host of Studio 23's "Us Girls". She joined it five months ago to replace Cheska Garcia who gave birth. She used to be "anything goes" in her getups but, as the host of a lifestyle show like "Us Girls," she's now more of fashionista who needs to be more stylish with the way she looks. "I'm also learning a lot from my co-hosts, Angel Aquino and Iya Villania," she says. "I get tips from them not only about fashion but also about good grooming, like having better skin." They're now busy with the 1st Us Girls August Awards, set on Thursday, Aug. 20, 7 p.m. at the New Eastwood Mall Open Park (cocktails precede the event at 6 p.m.).
There are four categories: Stylist of the Year, Make-up Artist of the Year, Most Fashionable and Face of the Year. The judges are Angel, Iya and Megan themselves with the Us Girls staff. They'll also give the Us Girls Icon Award for a trendsetting celebrity who embodies the real modern woman: independent, smart, adventurous and current.
Some of the nominees are Claudine Barretto, Kim Chiu, Anne Curtis, Carla Abellana, Isabelle Daza, Nikki Gil, Kristine Hermosa, Angel Locsin, Cristine Reyes, and Maja Salvador for “Face of the Year.” Anne and Isabelle vie again for the “Most Fashionable” award against fellow head turners - models Nicole Anderson, Pauline Juan, Divine Lee, Bea Soriano, Bianca Valerio, Georgina Wilson and celebrities Denise Laurel, Marie Lozano, and Camille Villar.
