Melissa Ricks: Hindi ako naglayas
IT'S Erich Gonzales as the First Daughter who topbills "Tanging Yaman" but Melissa Ricks, who plays a fake First Daughter, stole the thunder when she made a grand entrance and came so late at the show's presscon, when other writers have already left.
She says she came straight from the airport after coming in from Hawaii where she had a vacation with her two cousins in the U.S. Navy who live there. Is it true she ran away from home as her mom is against Jake Cuenca?
"I never left our home," she says. "Du’n pa rin ako nakatira. Nag-sleep over ako sa friend ko, si Kitkat, but nagpaalam ako sa amin. About Jake, my mom is just protective of me. Gusto lang ng mga ina mapabuti ang kanilang anak and mother is always right, di ba? But she doesn't say anything bad kay Jake kaya 'wag na lang siya idamay. Wala naman kaming relasyon ni Jake."
It's said she won't just admit it to protect her love team with Matt Evans. "I don't have to protect our love team kasi tanggap kami ni Matt as it is. Never akong niligawan ni Matt, but I'm very comfortable with him. He gives me advice when I have personal problems, pero sa amin na lang 'yun."
How come she accepted being kontrabida to Erich in "Tanging Yaman"? "I'm not exactly naman a villain. Noong una lang, mataray ako kay Erich kasi nauna ako sa kanya as first daughter nina Rowell Santiago in Malacañang, but it turns out siya pala ang long lost daughter, so when she lives with us na, medyo hostile ako sa kanya. The truth is I'm very happy for Erich's success, kasi pareho kaming galing sa Star Circle Quest, but different batches. We're good friends at magkasama kami doing production numbers in ASAP. I'm really glad we get to work together in 'Tanging Yaman.' May scene pa riyan na sinampal ko siya at naiyak siya sa sakit so I hugged her right away at nag-sorry ako sa kanya. As the story goes on, magiging magkakampi kami."
