Diether Ocampo's website Loqal.ph
Actor Diether Ocampo has put up the website www.loqal.ph where readers can access news from various local sectors that are not usually covered by traditional media. To gain a wider readership, Diether made Yahoo Philippines a partner in his newest pet project which also promotes business enterprises. “Loqal.ph is actually a content provider in a multimedia format. Tapos yung partnership namin with Yahoo, we will be providing content for them. They can pick up our news na hindi usually nakikita dahil nakasentro lang lagi dun sa mga mainstream news. So yun ang magandang partnership dun. Hindi lang sa loqal.ph makikita yung features kundi pati sa Yahoo.”
Apparently, his interest in becoming a content provider started when he saw how his brother’s blog about a one-of-a-kind shoe collection acquired a huge following back in the States. “Siyempre kasi ‘pag ngayon hindi mo pa ginawa kung anong ideas na meron ka, kailan mo pa gagawin? That's why we also want to encourage Filipinos that if you have a great idea na dapat mabigyan ng importansya, this is the venue for you to share it. Kumbaga you don’t have to go anywhere else to look for better opportunities. Basta ma-establish mo lang yung gusto mong i-market sa internet ngayon, definitely, mapag-uusapan agad. So with loqal.ph, magpunta ka lang sa website namin, makikita mo na dun lahat ng info about different kinds of products and services.”
With all his work commitments plus his responsibilities with KIDS Foundation, Diether admits that it’s really a challenge to make time for all his endeavors. But he believes that it’s all a matter of setting one’s priorities. At the same time, he values the importance of sharing his blessings with other people given his own humble beginnings. “Kaya nga I always tell the young ones sa KIDS foundation na kapag naging successful sila paglaki nila, always remember to share. In my case that's my way of paying it forward sa dami ng mga taong tumulong sa akin. In my own little way, I was able to set up something like KIDS Foundation na patuloy gumagawa ng mga proyekto para sa mga kabataan natin. Tomorrow, in fact, we're bringing 150 kids from Payatas to Ocean Park para i-treat naman sila. Kung gugustuhin natin, marami talaga tayong pwedeng tulungan at mapasaya kahit sa mga munting paraan lang.”
