Cinema One Originals announces finalists
Cinema One Originals has announced its seven finalists for this year. They are Remton Zuasola’s Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria Kirschbaum; Richard Somes’ Ishmael; Jason Paul Laxamana’s Astro Mayabang; EJ Salcedo’s Third World Happy; Joaquin Pedro Valdes’ Dagim; Sig Sanchez’s Tsardyer; and Michael Angelo Dagnalan’s Layang Bilanggo.
Cinema One reviewed and deliberated on over 100 submitted and defended screenplays. Now on its sixth year, Cinema One Originals Filmfest will award P1-M to each of the seven finalists chosen to produce their movie. Awards night is set in November.
Since 2005, Cinema One Originals has discovered and nurtured new talents who have gone on to bigger projects and wider audiences — may they be debuting filmmakers, screenplay writers, cinematographers, production designers and, actors and actresses. It has contributed to closing the gap between commercial filmmaking and the more arthouse/indie approach to produce more compelling films that move beyond the mainstream.
