Cesar Montano Releases Statement Regarding the Death of His Son Christian Angelo Manhilot

ABS-CBN reported this morning that Christian Angelo was rushed to Malvar Hospital in Quezon City but was declared dead on arrival at 6:40 a.m. Police confirmed that the reason of his death was a single gunshot wound in the head.

According to GMA News, Cesar and his family believed that there was no foul play or forced entry in the said incident. However, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) reported that it was an apparent suicide.

The victim is Montano’s child with his first wife Marilyn Polinga.

Here is Cesar Montano’s statement regarding the incident:

TO OUR DEAR FRIENDS FROM THE MEDIA:

“I received the shocking news of my son, Christian Angelo’s death very early this morning while I was in Bohol. I, along with my wife Sunshine and daughter Angela, immediately flew back to Manila first thing today to be with my son.

“No words can describe the grief that my family and I are experiencing with this devastating news. He was so young, a cheerful, thoughtful and loving son who has a generous heart and spirit.

“I was just with him yesterday before leaving for Bohol. Little did I know that it would be the last time I was to see him alive.

“Dr. Tony Leachon, a good friend and neighbor, pronounced Angelo dead on arrival at the Malvar General Hospital in Quezon City early this morning. Initial police investigation showed that Angelo died from a single gunshot wound in the head. We are still trying to piece together some facts pertaining to his death.

“While I am still reeling from this tragic incident, my family and I would like to appeal to everyone to respect the privacy of my grieving family at this time.

“Thank you very much for your understanding. May God’s strength be with all of us.”

Misunderstanding sa Star Magic, inamin ni Andi

Ngayong gabi na ang pinakaaabangang paglabas ni Andi Eigenmann sa Agua Bendita, kaya kahapon, nagkaroon ng presscon ang young actress kasama ang leading men na sina Jason Abalos at Matteo Guidicelli sa poolside ng Imperial Palace Suites.

Super excited na si Andi na may dual role sa nasabing serye bilang Agua at Bendita na finally “lumaki” na ang kanyang young version played by Xyriel Anne Manabat at ngayon ay siya na ang mapapanood.

Matatandaang kailan lang ay nagkaroon pa ng issue tungkol dito dahil sa pagkaka-extend ni Xyriel sa serye, dahilan para ma-delay ang appearance ni Andi.

Originally, two weeks lang mapapanood ang batang Agua/Bendita, pero dahil nga sa mataas na ratings nito, hinabaan pa ang exposure ng child star na ikinagalit umano ni Jaclyn Jose, ina ni Andi.

Nang makausap namin ang young actress, nilinaw niyang hindi totoo na muntik na siyang tanggalin ng mommy niya sa nasabing serye pati na rin sa Star Magic tulad ng napabalita.

“Nagkaroon lang po ng misunderstanding pero hindi naman po ako na-pull-out. Nakipag-usap lang po ang mommy ko sa management dahil akala po ng mommy ko, wala silang confidence sa akin, na parang hindi ko pa kaya. Pero hindi naman po pala ganu’n. In-explain po sa mommy ko na kaya po na-delay is mainly because they want to make the viewers happy.

“Like kung du’n nga po sa ratings, kung gustong makita pa ng viewers si Xyriel ng mas mahaba-haba nang konti, binigay po nila. Pero sinigurado naman po sa akin ng management na kahit ano ang mangyari, kahit sabihin pa ng ibang viewers na huwag na akong ilabas, hindi po nila gagawin,” paliwanag ni Andi.

Nilinaw din niyang hindi nagalit ang mommy niya although nasaktan daw ito for her dahil inakala nito na baka tsugihin na siya.

“Pero ’yun nga po, na-explain naman po sa mommy ko na hindi nila ’yun gagawin at gusto lang talaga nilang i-please ’yung viewers. Hindi po ibig sabihin na tatanggalin na ako at sinabi naman po nila na kahit ano po ang mangyari, eh, talagang aalagaan naman nila ako,” she said.

Aminado rin si Andi na maging siya ay nalungkot nang mabalitaang hindi muna siya lalabas sa serye.

“Kasi, akala ko rin po, nasa akin ang mali. But eventually, I realized na hindi naman po pala sa wala silang tiwala sa akin kundi dahil lang po talaga sa mataas ang ratings nito with Xyriel.”

In the end ay na-realize din daw niya na nakabuti pa rin dahil nagkaroon pa siya ng mas mahabang oras para paghandaan ang kanyang role.

Dahil nga sa mataas ang ratings nito with Xyriel, aminado si Andi na may pressure nang kaunti ngayong siya na ang magdadala ng soap.

“Kasi nga po, sobrang galing ni Xyriel at parang nakakapit na po talaga sa kanya ang mga tao. Pero para po sa akin, hindi po puwedeng ’yun lang.

“It ends with a love story. It’s meant to be that way. So, sa tingin ko po, dapat tanggapin ng mga tao ’yon, and palagay ko naman po, the management has really prepared for this just as I did.

“So, mas gagalingan pa po namin, mas magaganda pa po ’yung mapapanood nila para po lalo nilang magustuhan at tutukan pa rin nila,” say pa ng mestisang young actress.

Angel Locsin: I’ve never been drunk

IS it true Angel Locsin really ran away from home and went to Hongkong? "I did go to Hong Kong with my best friend Lani," she says at the intimate interview arranged by her new manager, Ethel Ramos. "Pero hindi ako naglayas. It was just a spur of the moment decision. Naisipan ko lang. I went to the airport and bought our tickets there. The next day, I left Hong Kong after lunch kasi I have a rehearsal at 4 p.m. here in Manila. 6 p.m., I flew back to Hong Kong, then the next day went to Disneyland, went shopping sa mga tiangge doon, and returned to Manila that night."

How about the rumor that she goes to bars and gets wild? "It's true I go to bars, but I've never been drunk in my whole life. Dati, wala akong nightlife, but I'm turning 25 on April 23, nothing wrong naman siguro if I go out and enjoy with some friends. Ang dami na-mang nagpupunta sa bars, ba't ako lang ang nasusulat? Also, it's part of my preparation for the movie I'm doing with Direk Olive Lamasan and Aga Muhlach where I will play a japayuki working in a club in Japan. We'll be shooting there on location next month."

So, she finally has work? "Yes, at nagkasabay pa nga sa taping ng new soap ko with John Lloyd Cruz, 'Imortal.' Kaya after mabakante ako for almost a year na nakakainip talaga, heto't maglalagari ako sa movie at sa soap na ididirek naman nina Chito Roño and Jerry Sineneng."

Is 'Imortal' a remake of a film starring Vilma Santos? "No. It's different. The story is about a woman na hindi tumatanda. I will play dual roles."

How can she start the movie with Aga when he has yet to finish his movie with Regine? "By next month, kahit di pa tapos ang Regine movie, basta magi-start na si Aga ng movie niya with Angel," Manay Ethel declares.

We know Ethel doesn't want to handle any more talents? How come she accepted Angel? "Honestly, up to now, di ko pa alam. Basta I'm hoping na mabait sana talaga siya in the true sense of the word. So far, no complaints yet. Basta ang sabi ko sa kanya, ayoko ng sinungaling."

Did Angel really backed out of 'Kokey'? "No. Nagulat na nga lang ako and I was the last one to know. Sinabi lang sa'kin ni Tita Ethel. Yun pala, they pulled me out kasi nga magi-start na ang movie ko and the new soap."

Luis Manzano is very open in saying he wants to win her back, but it seems she's not reciprocating him. "At least, binababa ko na siya ngayon, nag-uusap na kami, wala nang bastusan. Hindi kasi naging smooth ang breakup namin. Nasaktan talaga ko."

What's the cause of their breakup? "Unfair kung babalikan ko pa ang issue kasi si Luis, hindi rin naman nagsalita. Ang importante, mas comfortable na uli kami sa isa't isa. Hindi kami nagmamadali."

Some folks say it's because she's on with Chito, the vocalist of Parokya ni Edgar. "We're friends, masaya siyang kasama, but walang ligawan sa amin. Kaya nga nagugulat kaming kami na raw. Dedma na lang."

Angel Locsin nagbabad sa bar dahil sa movie

Angel Locsin admits that she did go to a bar, actually, not just once but a few times, pero hindi para maglasing but to observe what’s going on there.

Gusto rin daw niyang malaman what a bar maid or a bar waitress does, especially during peak hours.

She learned everything daw that goes on inside a bar first-hand. She even got to interview some waitresses and got an insight on the kind of job they are in.

Explained Angel: “First time kong makapasok ng bar. I needed to, since my role in the movie which pairs me with Aga Muhlach is that of a Japayuki.”

Part of the movie, she also said, will be shot in Japan.

“Tip pala ang bumubuhay sa mga waitress at waiter,” sey pa ni Angel. “And most of them work in a bar just to earn. Ang ilan nga sa kanila ay mga estudyante.

“From what I know, ang mga Japayuki natin sa Japan are just there to earn bigger money for their families.”

SHOWING na sa April 3 ang hottest movie ng Star Cinema at Viva Films na Babe, I Love You tampok ang pinag-uusapang love-team sa bansa na sina Sam Milby at Anne Curtis.

After making it sa local boobtube via Maging Sino Ka Man at Dyosa, sa pelikula naman ngayon mapapanood ng kanilang fans sina Sam at Anne, sa isang pelikulang kakaiba ang kuwento ng pag-ibig.

Mismong sina Sam at Anne ay init na init na rin sa kanilang pelikula.

“The last time we worked together for a project ay sa Dyosa pa and that was a year ago na yata. Kaya excited kaming pareho to finally work together para sa pelikulang ito.Regarding our real status now? Hindi pa kami ulit, naging mala-king factor talaga ang pelikulang ito because nagkaayos kaming dalawa ni Sam, we’re taking things day by day muna this time and malay natin, hindi ba, were not closing our doors naman ni Sam and he knows it! We’re much okey now but no expectations, parang whatever happens na lang siguro muna which is much better kesa naman kami na naman ulit tapos hindi na naman. Mas naging mature na kaming da-lawa this time and we're taking things day by day lang ni Sam,” kuwento ni Anne.

Inamin din ni Anne na nang malaman niyang gagawa sila ng pelikula ni Sam ay nagdalawang-isip siyang tanggapin ito.

“To be honest, yes! Nandoon ‘yung fear and everything. Journey talaga kasi hindi namin ine-expect both na because of this film ay magkakaayos kaming da-lawa and very thankful kami honestly sa movie na ito,” say pa ni Anne.

Samantala, among our local female directors today, Direk Mae Cruz na yata ang may pinakamagandang mukha sa kanila.

Sa presscon ng pelikulang Babe, I Love You, na directorial debut ni Direk Mae Cruz sa big screen, ninerbiyos si Direk Mae sa pagsasagot sa mga tanong na ibinabato sa kanya ng ilang press. But Direk Mae maintained her poise at in-fairness, the movie trailer itself proves that one of these days ay magiging ka-level na niya rin si Direk Olive Lamasan, huh!

Karylle returns to TV drama

Good news to avid viewers of leading ABS-CBN afternoon drama Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal. You’ll be glued to your TV sets as new character Tania is introduced. Tania will be played by Karylle.

During her first taping day last Wednesday, Karylle shared her excitement over her new TV project.

“I’m happy that I’m part of the show. I’ve been resting for quite some time. Puro kanta-kanta ang inaatupag ko sa buhay. I’m happy singing, but deep down, I really miss acting. Natutuwa din ako especially dahil ang cute-cute ni Sid (Lucero). Tawag siya nang tawag na sobra siyang excited and I felt really welcome in the show. Kaya lalong nakakagana.”

Karylle says she’s excited to be part of the Kampilya viewers’ daily lives again.

“When I went to the States, I met TFC viewers. I saw how they supported the soaps and how they love the characters they watch everyday. They even have it taped!”

Asked about being teamed up again with former Dahil May Isang Ikaw co-star Sid Lucero, Karylle says, “I’m very excited! When he arrives on the set, ang kulit-kulit niya. He got his guitar and sang for me at once. We’re very very close because we’ve worked together for a long time. We really support each other. I’m groping a bit now because this is nt first taping after a long time.”

She added, “In Dahil May Isang Ikaw, many televiewers thought magkakatuluyan ‘yung character ni Sid na si Red at si Denise. So feeling ko ito ‘yung kadugtong no’n. ‘Yung mga inisip nilang baka mangyayari noon, dito na lang siguro nila abangan kung mangyayari.”

What will the role Tania (Karylle) play in the lives of Nilo (Sid), Troy (Rayver Cruz) and Carmela (Bangs Garcia)? Will she be the key to the reunion of Nilo and Carmela? Will she totally ruin their marriage?

Angelica at Derek wala raw sex video

Nagpaliwanag na si Derek Ramsay hinggil sa larawang lumabas sa front page ng isang tabloid kung saan ay makikitang nakapasok ang kamay ng girlfriend niyang si Angelica Panganiban sa kanyang underwear.

Sa panayam ng Entertertainment Live last Saturday kay Derek ay nagpaliwanag ang aktor hinggil sa na-publish na larawan. Aniya ay kinunan ang photo na ’yun two years ago in Boracay.

“We were having fun and kami talaga ni Angel, that’s how we are talaga, we’re very affectionate to each other,” sabi ni Derek.

Mga magkakaibigan daw sila na naroroon that time at hindi nila akalaing lalabas ang naturang larawan.

Nakunan din ng pahayag ang editor ng tabloid na naglabas ng picture at aniya ay may nagbenta sa kanila ng nasabing larawan.

Nalulungkot din si Derek sa nangyari dahil private photos nila ’yun at sana raw ay hindi na ’yun lumabas.

“But if you want to bring out all the pictures, Angel and I are very comfortable and confident na we’re not doing anything wrong. Pero babae si Angel, so sana, konting respeto naman,” he said.

Kung sakali naman daw na may iba pang larawang lalabas, hindi naman daw sila worried ni Angel dahil sigurado silang wala namang malaswang lalabas na tipong sex videos or photos.

“If a second picture comes out, ano ang point nila para maglabas ng ganitong picture?” sabi pa ng aktor.

Humingi rin ng dispensa si Derek sa pamilya ni Angelica na maaaring naapektuhan din ng issue.

“I’d like to say sorry to the family of Angel for seeing this. This is just another test siguro at sigurado akong malalampasan namin.”

Sinigurado rin ni Derek na nananatiling matatag ang relasyon nila ni Angel at in-assure rin niya that he’ll always be here for her.

Samantala, minabuti na lang ni Angel na huwag nang magbigay ng pahayag tungkol sa issue pero ani Derek, huwag daw hintaying lumabas ang galit ni Rubi.

Pinapurihan naman ng E-Live hosts na sina Mariel Rodriguez, Bianca Gonzales and Toni Gonzaga ang paglabas ni Derek para harapin ang issue bilang lalaki. Anila ay tama lang na huwag nang magsalita si Angel and good thing, nandiyan ang boyfriend nito para idepensa siya.

Ngayong summer, abangan si Gerald Anderson kasama ang Pinoy Big Brother Double Up ex-housemates sa kakaibang escapade sa Your Song Presents Isla simula ngayong Linggo (March 21) sa ABS-CBN.

Mapanghamon ang papel na ginagampanan dito ng PBB Teens season one sensation na si Gerald. Kinailangan pa niyang mag-aral gumamit ng arnis at magpaganda ng pangangatawan para mapaghandaan ang kanyang role.

Nanghihinayang pala si Judy Ann Santos na dahil maaga siyang sumabak sa pag-aartista ay hindi niya natapos ang kanyang pag-aaral. Sinabi niyang hindi ito mangyayari sa kanyang mga anak. Magtatapos muna sila ng pag-aaral bago niya payagang mag-artista ang mga ito.

Sinabi ng reyna ng teleserye ng Dos na bagama’t nakakakita na siya ng mga senyales na sa pag-aartista rin hahantong ang panganay nilang si Yohan, pipilitin niyang mahimok muna itong mahilig sa pag-aaral bago ito payagang mag-artista

ABS-CBN sisimulan na ang summer

Salubungin na ang summer kasama ang mahigit 150 Kapamilya stars sa paglulunsad ng ABS-CBN ng kanilang pinakaabangang summer station ID (SID) na pinamagatang Summer ang Simula ngayong Linggo (Mar 21) sa ASAP XV.

Ang naturang SID, ayon kay ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management (CCM) Head Robert Labayen, ay nakaankla sa ideya na ang summer ay ang pinakaperpektong oras para magsaya at maghanda para sa pagbabago.

“Bawat araw ng summer ay maaring araw para sa mga bagong simula. Bawat araw ay pagkakataon para maging aktibo sa pagtulong sa kalikasan, sa pagtaguyod ng kabuhayan at pagtingin sa mundong tinitirahan natin sa mas positibong paraan,” sabi ni Labayen.

Abangan ang ABS-CBN entertainment at news personalities sa kanilang paglahok sa iba’t ibang gawain sa iba’t ibang platforms tulad ng Boto Mo, I-Patrol Mo, Bayanijuan, at iba pang programa ng ABS-CBN Foundation programs na Sagip Kapamilya, Kapit Bisig sa Ilog Pasig, at E Media.

Bawat isa ay kakatawan sa isang imahe na kapag pinagsama-sama ay bubuo ng isang magandang larawan o collage na sumisimbolo sa mas mabuting mundo para sa ating mga Pilipino.

Ruffa Gutierrez Gets Custody of Daughters

The first thing that Ruffa Gutierrez felt Tuesday night when her lawyer informed her that the court has granted her custody of her two daughters, Lorin, 6, and Venice, 5, was big relief.

“The court case lasted din naman kasi for more than three years,” Ruffa told Funfare Update last night at the mini-presscon in EDSA Shangri-La for her being the newest Nokia N97 mini endorser, putting her “at par” with Rihanna. “As a mother, I was worried about losing the case; I think any mother would feel the same.”

But even before the decision was handed down, Ruffa’s estranged husband
Yilmaz Bektas told Ruffa that she would win the case.

“Yilmaz said that children should stay with the mother,” added Ruffa.

The court decision doesn’t limit Yilmaz’s right to visit their children. As announced, Yilmaz is coming for a visit anytime now, perhaps coinciding with the un-couple’s seventh wedding anniversary on March 25.

“We were together for 10 years,” recalled Ruffa. “We went steady for three years before we got married.”

Ruffa lived the life of an ordinary citizen in Istanbul, Turkey, where Yilmaz has some of his businesses. The union didn’t last long. Ruffa came home “battered” but unbowed. Yilmaz has visited her twice but failed on both times to convince Ruffa to reconcile with him.

As a single mother, Ruffa has been bringing up their daughters by herself.

“I don’t require Yilmaz to give our children any support,” said Ruffa. “It’s up to him to volunteer support, pero hindi ko siya pipilitin kung ayaw niya.”

As it is, life has been more than good to Ruffa.

“I can’t thank God enough for all the blessings,” she said.

Besides the Nokia N97 mini endorsement, Ruffa has just closed a “fat” contract with TV5 where she will have five shows, one of them a showbiz talk show to be pitted against ABS-CBN’s The Buzz from which she quit two Sundays ago in tears following an on-air misunderstanding with co-host Kris Aquino who promptly asked for forgiveness which she took back in the show’s edition last Sunday.

“Basta ako, as far as I’m concerned it’s a closed case,” said Ruffa. “I sent her flowers and I publicly accepted her apology.”

But what if, just if, Kris deemed it not enough?

Breaking into a wide smile, Ruffa said, showing Funfare Update her new Nokia N97 mini, “I will give her one like this. It’s high-tech. One of its features is a Share Location on Ovi Maps by which you can trace your friends and loved ones anywhere in the Philippines and abroad.”

MARAMI ang nagtatanong kung totoo ang tsikang naglayas daw si Angel Locsin at sumakay ng taxi mag-isa at dumiretso sa airport kasama ang isang kaibigan pa-puntang Hong Kong.

May ipino-promote daw bang bagong show o pelikula ang aktres kaya gumagawa ng ingay?

Walang dahilan para maglayas si Angel. Maganda naman ang takbo ng kanyang career lalo‘t si Ethel Ramos na ngayon ang nagma-manage ng kanyang showbiz career.

Maganda rin ang mga project ng Dos kay Angel. Naririyan ang Angel-Aga Muhlach movie at nangako ang kanyang home studio na hindi pababayaan ang kanyang career.

Kung iniisip ng mga detractor ni Angel na naiinip na ito dahil matagal nang walang project tapos nawala pa siya sa casting ng Ko-key na ang ipinalit ay si Toni Gonzaga, ito ay malaking pagkakamali.

Maaaring inilalagay lang sa tamang direksyon ang kanyang career at kailangan na mailagay sa ayos ang mga nauna niyang commitments-endorsements na tinanggap.

WE heard Viva Films is alarmed that after nearly two years in the making, the Aga Muhlach-Regine Velasquez reunion flick, "Of All the Things", is nowhere near completion, whereas “Working Girls 2010,” which has a much bigger cast has been completed after only a couple of months and is now ready to be shown.

Some folks say it was delayed by Aga's efforts to take off some unwanted weight, but others say shooting is frequently stalled because its director, Joyce Bernal, is often intoxicated. "When it started, ni hindi pa nasisimulan ang 'Diva' ko on GMA7," says Regine. "Ngayon, ongoing na ang 'Diva' at regular na ang tapings ko rito, pero hindi pa rin tapos ang movie. Tapos, heto sisimulan na ang bagong Sunday show, 'Party Pilipinas', kaya sana, matapos na kami kasi another movie is waiting for me na kukunan on location sa Recto Avenue.

‘Lupang Hinirang’ ni Arnel Pineda , kinapos!

Nagbu-bunyi na naman ang buong Pilipinas sa pagkakapa-nalo ng ating pound-for-pound boxing champion na si Manny Pacquiao against Joshua Clottey sa ginanap na laban nila kahapon sa Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, Texas, USA.

Pacman won by unanimous decision sa labang umabot hanggang sa 12th round. Disappointed lang ang ilang kababayan dahil walang knockout na nangyari at ang komento nga, parang nakikipag-sparring lang si Manny.

But nevertheless, hindi na naman tayo binigo ni Pacman at ang pagkakapanalo niya ay isa na namang malaking karangalan para sa ating bansa.

Samantala, for sure ay marami na naman ang magre-react sa pagkakanta ni Arnel Pineda of Journey ng Lupang Hinirang. Medyo naiba na naman kasi ang tono sa last stanza ng ating national anthem at sa sobrang taas ng pagkakakuha niya ay halos hindi niya nakaya at kinapos ito.

Ganunpaman ay umani naman ng masigabong palakpakan ang frontman ng Journey since siya lang yata ang singer na kumanta ng Lupang Hinirang sa ganu’n kataas na tono.

Jason Francisco ng ‘PBB Double Up’ naglayas!

HINDI nakasama sa kauna-unahang provincial tour ng PBB Big 5 ang boyfriend ni Melay Cantiveros na si Jason Francisco nu’ng Sabado sa Legazpi City dahil lumayas ito sa Bahay ni Kuya at hindi mahagilap ng staff.

Ayon sa aming source, umalis ng PBB house si Jason nu’ng Biyernes na hindi nagpapaalam sa staff. Ang kutob ng mga staff, umuwi ito ng Mindoro kasama ang kanyang ina para puntahan ang mga kamag-anak na matagal na niyang hindi nakikita.

At dahil naglayas nga si Jason, hindi rin siya nakasama ng PBB Big 4 na sina Melay, Johan, Tibo at Paul Jake sa birthday ni Direk Lauren Dyogi sa Ferndale nu’ng Biyernes ng gabi.

Saturday, bandang 2 a.m. ay tinatawagan pa rin ng PBB staff si Jason, pero hindi nito sinasagot ang telepono.

Kahapon ng umaga ay umuwi na si Jason sa PBB house in time para naman sa second provincial tour nila sa Pacific Mall ng Lucena City bandang 4 p.m.

Sobra naman ang naging pag-aalala ni Melay sa pagkawala ni Jason. Hindi rin kasi ito nagpaalam sa kanya. Nag-worry rin ang dalaga sa problemang kakaharapin ni Jason if ever na hindi agad ito bumalik ng PBB house.

Sa birthday party ni Direk Lauren, halata ang kalungkutan sa mukha ni Melay dahil hindi niya kasama ang kanyang Sweetypie. At least ngayon, magkasama na ulit sila.

Meanwhile, sa March 16 ay nasa Davao naman ang Big 5 para sa Araw ng Davao at sa March 20 (Sat.) ay nasa Boracay naman sila.

Isa si Ruffa Gutierrez sa unang nakaalam ng pagbubuntis ni Judy Ann Santos dahil sinabi sa kanya ng mag-asawa na pregnant si Judy Ann nang magkasama-sama sila sa grand finals ng Talentadong Pinoy last Saturday, pero nangako si Ruffa na isisekreto ang nalaman at tinupad naman nito, kaya ngayon lang siya nagko-congratulate sa mag-asawa.

’Katuwa pala ang isa sa mga latest tweets ni Ruffa dahil inaming mas worried siya sa pagdating ni Yilmaz Bektas kesa feud nila ni Kris Aquino. Mahabang “Hellooooowww ya. Wouldn’t you if you were me” ang sagot nito sa nagtanong, pero sa presscon ng TV5, nagbiro itong isasama ang ex-husband sa trade show ng TV5 na inalmahan ni Annabelle Rama.

Also, kung tutuparin ni Ruffa ang na-tweet, mag-a-out- of-town daw siya this Sunday, ibig sabihin, hindi na talaga siya pupunta sa The Buzz. Hindi na rin sila magkikita ni Kris Aquino, pero wala nang isyu sa dalawa nang tanggapin ni Ruffa ang pagso-sorry ni Kris at nag-sorry din si Ruffa sa Aquino family at kay Sen. Noynoy Aquino.

Samantala, mukha lang ni Ruffa ang nakalagay sa brochure ng Azure Urban Resort Residences dahil naniniwala siguro ang Century Properties na face pa lang ng TV host-actress, marami na ang bibili ng unit sa first large-scale man-made beach residential development sa bansa. Malapit sa SLEX West Service Road at adjacent sa SM Bicutan ang Azure.

Maituturing na isang reunion project nina Kristine at Oyo ang ika-apat na installment ng Quikilig series. Matatandaang huling nagkasama ang dalawa sa pang-hapong telenovela noong 2008 na Prinsesa ng Banyera.

ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation, the country’s largest multimedia conglomerate, has captured Mega Manila TV ratings with an audience share of 38.2 percent in February 2010, beating rival station GMA Network Inc.’s 38.1 percent, based on audience measurement surveys conducted by global media specialist TNS (Taylor Nelson Sofres).

ABS-CBN Head of Research and Business Analysis Vivian Tin attributed the success in winning Mega Manila to its increasing audience share in Metro Manila, beating competition by four percentage points last month. ABS-CBN’s audience share in Metro Manila to 40 percent in February 2010 from 36 percent in the same period last year, whereas GMA experienced a drop in its audience share to 36 percent in February 2010 from 40 percent in the same period last year.

Tin said the other factors that contributed to strong showing in Mega Manila include efforts to provide quality programs and improve its reception in the area. ABS-CBN’s Mega Manila audience share grew to 38.2 percent in February 2010 from 34 percent in the same month last year, whereas GMA’s share shrunk to 38.1 percent in February 2010 from 43 percent in the same period last year.

Overall, ABS-CBN continues to be the national leader by reaching more Filipino households in all parts of the country making it the top choice of advertisers for its wide reach. ABS-CBN’s audience share in February 2010 hit 48 percent as compared to GMA’s 32 percent.

Seven of the top 10 most watched weekday programs nationwide belong to ABS-CBN. The phenomenal primetime series “May Bukas Pa” starring Zaijian “Santino” Jaranilla topped the list with an average rating of 41.8 percent in February and its finale rated a whopping 47.3 percent.

As the miracle boy bid farewell, the comic book adaptation of “Agua Bendita” continued the success by hitting a high of 38.6 percent and second with an average rating of 38.6 percent.

ABS-CBN’s award-winning news program “TV Patrol World,” on the other hand, continues its supremacy as the number one newscast in the country hitting an average rating of 33.2 percent.

Meanwhile, the hit reality program “Pinoy Big Brother Double Up,” which gave birth to the so called prince and princess of the masses Jason Francisco and Melisa “Melai” Cantiveros, came in sixth with an average rating of 28.1 percent.

“Melason in Love,” which picked up from the success of Melai and Jason’s tandem, changed the face of pre-noon programming with its 18.1 percent rating on its pilot airing. It proved to be an effective pre-programming for hit talent-variety show “Showtime” which soared to unprecedented levels since the reality show’s launch.

Other programs who that made it to the top 10 were “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo” (35.1%), “Habang May Buhay” (31.5%) and “Rubi” (25.6%).

ABS-CBN’s programs also swept the top 10 slots in the TNS’ overall weekend TV ratings survey.

“PBB Double Up Big Date on the Big Night” held at the Ninoy Aquino stadium took the country by storm and led all weekend programs with a rating of 44.6 percent, the highest weekend program rating reported by TNS since it started releasing national ratings in February 2009.

The country’s largest reality-talent search “Pilipinas Got Talent” came in second place with an average rating of 39.1 percent. Its pilot weekend telecasts rated 38.7 percent and 37.5 percent— a performance level that “May Bukas Pa” introduced during weekdays. Its second weekend airing was even more astounding with its Sunday telecast hitting a 43.1% rating, making it the current leader in TNS’ weekend TV ratings survey.

John Lloyd at Shaina, magkasamang mag-shopping

Last week, Friday to be exact, marami ang nakakita kina John Lloyd Cruz at Shaina Magdayao na magkasamang namamasyal sa EDSA Shangri-La Mall.

Halatang nag-shopping daw ang dalawa dahil kitang-kita ang bitbit ni Lloydie na mga pinamili na siguro ay para sa young actress.

Kung iaanalisa, mukhang open na sina Lloydie at Shaina sa kanilang magandang pagtitinginan dahil nakakaya na nilang magpakitang magkasama sa isang public place.

Alam naman nilang mabilis kumalat ang balita at sa malas ay mukhang ready na sila sa magiging consequences nito.

Sabagay, bagay naman silang dalawa at for sure, they would make a lovely pair.

Ang medyo gumugulo lang sa isip ng marami ay kung totoo ba ang tsismis na si Lloydie ang third party sa splitup nina Shaina at John Prats.

Hindi kasi magandang tingnan siyempre sa part ni Lloydie na nanulot siya at sa part naman ni Shaina, lalong hindi magandang tingnan na nag-e-entertain ng ibang suitor habang may boyfriend pa.

Yeng Constantino itinanggi ang pagiging tomboy

Nag-21 years old na si Yeng Constantino nung De­cember 4. Tinatanggap niyang isang napa­ka-gandang birthday gift ang pagkakapili sa kanya para mag-host ng pinaka-bagong night trip ng ABS CBN, ang Music Uplate Live, mapa­panood ng gabi-gabi, Lunes hanggang Biyernes, simula Marso 15.

Hindi basta pinili si Yeng para maging VJ ng nasa­bing programa. Hindi niya inalintana na kini­kilala siyang the country’s rock princess at grand dreamer ng Pinoy Dream Academy season 1. Pumila siya at nag-audition para sa nasabing show.

Wala silang pinagpilian nung araw ng kanyang audition. Pawang mga bagu­han ang nakasabay niya pero hindi siya nag-alala na baka hindi siya pu­masa at mapunta sa isang hindi kilala ang tra­baho. Wala ito sa kanyang isip. Basta ang layunin niya ay mag­karoon ng ibang trabaho at mapa­lawak ang kaalaman niya sa musika.

Siyam na taon pa lamang ay sumusulat na siya ng kanta, gusto niyang makasubok naman sa ibang field of music.

“Feel ko namang maging VJ. Bago ako su­mabak sa audition ay nag-workshop muna ako. Nagpa-prak­tis ako sa malaking mirror sa room ko at dun salita ako nang salita. Hindi ako nagpapaka-reli­gious but I think it’s God’s will na mapunta sa akin ang pagiging host ng Music Uplate Live.

“Insomniac ako, I can do something better with my time sa mga oras na nagpapahinga na ang ma­rami. At gusto ko rin namang mag-try ng ibang bagay,” paliwanag ng PDA grand dreamer who has gone more beautiful with her new cropped hair even if she’s 10 lbs. heavier now.

Hindi naman mag-iisa si Yeng sa kanyang pag­hu-host ng show, mayroon siyang maka­kasama. Bukod pa ito sa mga guest na darating araw-araw.

Excited si Yeng na simulan ang nasabing programa.

Sinabi niyang hindi ito makakaapekto sa kan­yang boses dahil sanay na nga siyang ma­puyat dahil sa kanyang insomnia. “Pagpupuyat ito na may sense. Normally, at 3:00 a.m ay kuma­kain pa akong French fries at pritong galunggong. Kaya nga nung malaman ko na nakuha ako, talon ako nang talon.

“Pinaka-magandang point sa show ay magbibigay kami ng chance sa lahat ng aspiring artists,” sabi niya.

Nang may magtanong kung hindi ba makaka­apekto sa kanyang lovelife ang bago niyang trabaho dahil hindi na rin siya makakalabas ng gabi dahil maghahanda siya for her show, sinabi niyang : “Wala akong lovelife. Although pina­paya­gan na akong magka-boyfriend ng tatay ko. Dati kasi hindi pero nang mag-21 ako, na-feel ko na parang payag na siya, open na siya sa idea”.

Ang pagbabawal na ito ng kanyang ama ang dahilan kaung bakit short lived lang ang MU nila ng isang member ng Rivermaya?

“We were already going out, exclusive na kami lang pero na-feel ko na magiging unfair ako kung patutuluyin ko pa siya ng panliligaw. Nagbibigay na kasi siya ng mga stuff eh, hindi pa naman kami. I felt I was taking advantage of him. Kaya sinabi ko sa kanya na mag-focus na lang muna kami sa aming mga career. We’re still friends up to now and we still hung out pero may mga kasama na kaming grupo.

“Hindi rin ako dati pinayagan ng tatay ko na magpa­ligaw kay RJ Jimenez (kasamahan niya dati sa PDA). Pero ngayon, payag na siya hindi ko lang malaman kung ready naman ako. Gusto ko na yung susunod kong boyfriend ay yung pakakasalan ko na,” dagdag pa ng magandang babae na natsitsismis na tomboy pero mariin niya itong itinanggi.

“Hindi ako tomboy! Nasasabi lang ito dahil I hung out with men mostly at palagi akong naka-jeans. Ang music ko is more masculine than feminine pero, talaga hindi ako tomboy. Wala akong nararamdamang ganito sa sarili ko,” paliwanag niya.

Susunod na ba sa pagiging host ang pag-aartista?

“Naku hindi siguro! Ayaw ko itong i-try ever. Nalaman ko kasi na hindi pala acting yung ginagawa ng mga artista. Totoo pala yung inaarte nila. Eh hindi ko alam yun. Dito na lang ako sa aking passion na music. Alam ko ito at hindi na ako mangangapa pa,” sabi pa niya.

Karylle ginaganahang magtrabaho dahil kay Sid Lucero

Good news sa lahat ng agasubaybay ng nangu­ngunang afternoon drama sa ABS-CBN na Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal!

Sa Biyernes, mapapanood na ang paglabas ng pinakabagong karakter na si Tania na gagampanan ng isa sa pinaka-in demand na actress-singer ngayon na si Karylle.

Sa unang taping day ni Karylle para sa Dangal noong Miyerkules, ikinwento niya ang nararam­damang excitement para sa bagong project : “Natutuwa ako that I’m part of the show. Medyo matagal din kasi akong nag-rest. Puro kanta-kanta ang inaatupag ko sa buhay. Masaya ako sa pagkanta pero deep down talagang nami-miss ko ‘yung pag-arte. Natutuwa rin ako especially dahil ang cute-cute ni Sid (Lucero), tawag siya nang tawag na sobra siyang excited at na-feel ko talagang welcome ako sa show. Kaya lalong nakakagana.”

Ayon kay Karylle, excited na siyang muling maging bahagi ng araw-araw na buhay ng mga manonood. “Noong nagpunta ako ng States, na-meet ko ‘yung mga TFC viewers and nakita ko kung gaano nila sinusuportahan ‘yung mga soap at minamahal ‘yung mga characters na napapanood nila araw-araw. Pinapa-tape pa nila!”

Nang tanungin naman ang singer-actress tungkol sa muli nilang pagsasama ni Sid Lucero sa telebisyon matapos ang Dahil May Isang Ikaw, masayang ibinahagi ni Karylle : “Very excited ako! Pagdating ko nga sa set, ang kulit-kulit niya. Kinuha niya ‘yung gitara at kinantahan ako kaagad. We’re very very close kasi matagal na kaming nagkatrabaho. Malakas ang suporta namin sa isa’t isa. Medyo nangangapa lang ako ulit ngayon syempre first taping after a long time.”

Ruffa Gutierrez Accepts Kris' Apology

Ruffa Gutierrez accepts Kris' apology. Ruffa Gutierrez finally allowed the press to interview her two days after the much talked-about incident.

“I know that we love each other and I know that we’ve been friends for a long, long time. Medyo nasaktan lang ako noon kasi doon sa mga parinig niya na, ‘Naku, you know mahal na mahal ako ng mga tiga-Laoag. Seventy percent ng mga tao nakikita ako dito (The Buzz).’ Parang pinapalabas niya na walang manonood sa akin sa TV5,” she said.

“I really wanted to go back on-air but I couldn’t stop crying. So, natanggal na ang pilik-mata ko, nag-smear na ang lining ko and I admit I was emotional. Hindi ako nag-walkout. Ewan ko ba kung bakit sinabing nag-walkout. Mga intrigero kayo. Masama bang umiyak sa dressing room. Kung akala ng mga tao OA (overacting), ganoon talaga ang emotion ko noong time na ‘yon. Wala akong magagawa. Hindi ko talaga sinasadya ‘yon,” she added.

In an interview with Showbiz News Ngayon, Ruffa said she appreciated and accepted Aquino’s public apology. “Ako naman, I’m a very fun-loving individual and kaibigan ko din naman si Kris. And I have the highest respect for her.”

As for her mom Annabelle Rama’s response to Kris’s apology, she said: “Sinabi lang niya, ‘Naku day, tanggapin mo na ang apology ni Kris, day. Kasi nakita ko naman nagpa-kumbaba na siya. Sige, okay na yan, day.’ Alam mo naman ang mommy ko, para siyang volcano.”

Her final words were: “Wala ng Team Ruffa, Team Kris. Team friendship na lang, di ba?”

Ruffa is slated to bid farewell to the Buzz this Sunday. If she ever appears on the said episode, she and Kris will have another tv moment that could never happen again for a long time.

Karen Davila - One of the Young Global Leaders for 2010

Award-winning television and radio anchor Karen Davila made another feat as one of only three Filipinos considered as “Young Global Leaders for 2010” by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The WEF is a non-profit organization based in Switzerland known for gathering leaders of states and industries in a forum that tackles the world’s most important issues.

Davila will attend the 2010 World Economic Forum with fellow honorees such as world-famous tennis player Roger Federer, singer Wyclef Jean, and the founders of Internet hubs Twitter, Google, and Youtube.

The other Filipinos who made the elite list are micro-financing maven Dennis Eclarin of Hometown Corp. and information technology trailblazer Winston Damarillo of Global gateway Innovation Exchange.

“It’s a privilege to have a voice in the global arena and have a part in shaping policy when it comes to issues of health, education, women, and children,” Davila said.

Known for her works on women’s and children’s issues, Davila has been awarded before by bodies such as the UNICEF and the New York Festivals for her documentaries on children in jail and babies afflicted with biliary artersia.

This Tuesday (Mar 9) on “The Correspondents,” Karen will once again champion the rights of women and children with an in-depth look on the deaths of mothers and infants in the Philippines because of lack of medical care and family-planning.

Aside from “The Correspondents,” Karen anchors “TV Patrol World” on ABS-CBN, “Headstart with Karen Davila” on ANC, and “Pasada Sais Trenta” on DZMM.

Christian Bautista Updates

Mukhang tuluy-tuloy na ang bonggang career ni Christian Bautista sa iba’t ibang bansa sa Asya. Bukod sa Indonesia kung saan siya unang nakilala, napasok na rin niya ang Malaysia at Thailand.

At hindi na lang siya basta singer ngayon. Gagawa na rin siya ng pelikula at teleserye sa Indonesia.

Next month pa mapa-finalize pero alam na niya ang kuwento ng pelikula sa ibang bansa. Ewan ko lang kung may nagawa na siyang pelikulang local.

Pero ang pinaka-bongga ay ang pagkakapili sa kanya bilang representative ng bansa sa Pat­taya Festival na gaganapin sa Thailand.

Ang Pattaya Festival ang pinakamalaking sum­mer event ng Bangkok. Ito ay isang ling­gong festival ng music, dance, beauty contests, pa­ra­des, sandcastle contests, and parties. Mayroon ding sound and light shows at fire­works displays sa beach para ma-promote ang Pattaya bilang premier tourist destination.

Pinili si Christian ng Grammy, ang pina­kamalaking independent record label at media conglomerate entertainment company sa Thai­land para mag-perform sa main event ng Pat­taya Festival sa March 20. Dinadaluhan ito ng hu­migit kumulang na 30,000 na tao na kara­mihan ay turista.

At habang nasa Thailand, magiging busy si Christian sa promotion ng event sa TV at press­cons.

Malaking opportunity ito for Christian sa tulong ng kanyang record label sa bansa na Universal Records.

Going strong pa rin ang masasabing ro­mance with Asia ni Chris­tian at inaasahang mas titindi at magiging mas makulay pa ito.

Ituwid Natin on ABS-CBN

Ituwid Natin, a discussion of the gains and lessons of EDSA I and II, resumed recently with its sixth episode that compared the leadership and management styles of Presidents Cory Aquino, Fidel Ramos and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Host Toni Gonzaga anchors the show with resource persons.

The next episode will tackle government-related irregularities which paved the way for the completion of ground-breaking projects like the EDSA-to-Roxas Blvd. extension during the Aquino administration, the sale of the Fort Bonifacio property by the Ramos government and the controversial Diosdado Macapagal Blvd. at the Pasay reclamation area under President Arroyo.

Kris Aquino Apologizes to Ruffa

Read the previous post first to know the whole story. So what made Ruffa Gutierrez walk out from ABS-CBN’s The Buzz last Sunday (never mind if she insisted that it was not a “walkout” but more of a “walk into” her dressing room where she melted into tears)?

Two things presumably: Co-host Kris Aquino’s comment about John Lloyd Cruz, Ruffa’s “special friend,” and about Talentadong Pinoy in which Ruffa is a resident judge (part of her five-show contract with TV5) and which has the same format as the new ABS-CBN show Pilipinas Got Talent in which Kris is a judge together with Ai-Ai delas Alas and Freddie Garcia.

It was mom Annabelle Rama who “ordered” Ruffa to walk out. In her phone patch with GMA’s Showbiz Central also that Sunday, Annabelle called on televiewers not to vote for Kris’ brother, Sen./Presidentiable Noynoy Aquino because, according to Annabelle, “baka lalong yumabang si Kris kapag presidente na si Noynoy.”

Yesterday’s Funfare quoted Kris as saying that she didn’t mean to offend Ruffa and her comments were made “with affection.”

Very early yesterday morning, Kris texted Funfare the following message:

I had dinner with Noynoy tonight (Sunday, March 7) after his TVC shoot. He told me di raw ba puwede na may quiet Sunday kami? And he asked why siya nadamay when he’s not even part of Buzz. I would like to extend a loving hug to Ruffa. I viewed the tape and although I still feel that I gave my comment with affection, maybe it made her feel even worse because she’s now moving in a new direction. We had what I believed was a good working relationship in the almost two years we were together on the Buzz.

I can also understand that Ruffa’s mom dislikes Noynoy and my family maybe because of association and our vocal proclamation of admiration for Dingdong Dantes and his selfless contribution to help Noynoy’s presidential bid. It is with Ruffa that I enjoyed a healthy working relationship and I only have good words to say about her. To Ruffa, I sincerely apologize for causing you hurt. My brother Noynoy would like to add that we live in a democracy where we are very free to make our own choice for president.

Noynoy told me that in any election, we’ll have our share of fervent supporters and harshest critics. And if you can’t take the heat, then politics isn’t for you. I respect Tita Annabelle as a woman, and as Ruffa’s mom and the lola of Lorin and Venice. On behalf of our family I apologize for the distress we caused you. Hindi po ako mayabang, kaya ako nagpapakumbaba ngayon. On a last note, I promised Noynoy that if he does win, and I’m the cause of stress for him and his presidency, I’ll gladly take my two boys to live anywhere there is TFC so that I can continue to work but with our overseas Filipino brothers and sisters. Of course, Noynoy said dinner daw ‘yon at hindi teleserye ko.

I love my family and I’m so grateful to have such a supportive and grounded brother and sisters who have learned to love me for all that I am. Thank you for your time and may God bless all of us with a peaceful week.

Also, I just got this text message from my sister Pinky: Tomorrow (yesterday) is Women’s Day and March is Women’s Month. FYI, it was our mom who passed laws making this possible (Proclamation No. 224 and 227, both signed in March 1988) and RA 6949 (signed April 1990) declaring March 8 as National Women’s Day. We celebrate women who triumphed despite odds and need to look at ways to further improve. That’s why I want Ruffa to have a great career ahead of her because she is a woman, raising two beautiful daughters. And I champion all women who triumph despite the odds, just like my own mom.

Late yesterday afternoon, I got this text message from Ruffa:

I’ve heard from the whole world except from Kris. So until then I will remain graciously quiet about this. Thank you.
