Angelica, dedma na sa paglabas ng private photos nila ni Derek

One month na palang hindi nagkakasama ang mag-sweetheart na sina Angelica at Derek Ramsay.

Say ng young actress sa presscon ng Here Comes the Bride kahapon, nasa-sad na siya.

“Ang dami kasing trabaho, tinapos niya ’yung Habang May Buhay, tapos ako naman, may Rubi, so, padalaw-dalaw na lang sa taping,” say niya.

Kaya naman super looking forward siya sa bakasyon nila ni Derek sa June. Tutungo sila sa Africa at one month silang mawawala.

Two years ago pa raw nila ipina-block-off ang dates.

“Then, finally, last year, nagpaalam na kami (sa ABS-CBN) and pinayagan naman kami kasi ang tagal na nga ng advance.”

Nakaplano na nga raw ang activities nila sa Africa.

Anyway, matatandaang kamakailan lang ay na-involve sina Angel at Derek sa isang controversy kung saan ay lumabas ang private photos nila habang nasa Boracay.

Nag-issue na ng statement tungkol dito si Derek, pero kahapon, hindi pa rin naiwasang hindi ito maitanong kay Angel. Naapektuhan ba siya ng naturang issue?

“Hindi naman, gusto nilang ilabas ’yon, eh.”

Ano ang initial reaction niya nang lumabas ang larawan?

“Taray!”

Ayon kay Angel, ang pamilya niya ang talagang napikon sa pangyayari, pero kung siya ang tatanungin, alam niyang parte ng trabaho niya ang mga ganitong issue.

Bakit, hindi na siya magdedemanda?

“Bakit naman ako magdedemanda?” balik-tanong niya. “Hindi na, ’di pinasikat ko lang sila,” ang say niya.

Alam ba niyang 20 pictures pa ang hawak ng publikasyon at anytime, puwedeng ilabas ng mga ito?

“Oo nga, eh, ang dami. Gusto nila, bigyan ko na lang sila,” natatawa niyang sabi.

Alam ba nila kung sino ang naglabas sa media ng nasabing mga larawan?

“Ayaw naman naming mag-pinpoint, ayaw naming paliitin ang mundo namin, ayaw namin ng galit, so, kung may naglabas, konsensiya na nila ’yon.”

Pero aminado si Angel na natuwa siya sa boyfriend na talagang namang idinepensa agad siya nang lumabas ang larawan.

“Siyempre, nakaka-impress naman ’yon bilang nakita mo kung gaano siya ka-gentleman sa mga ganu’ng aspeto.”

Rocky Salumbides nakipaglaplapan kay Fanny Serrano

Nagulat kami nu’ng malaman namin na kasama pala sa cast ng indie film na D Survivors (na showing na ngayon) si Rocky Salumbides dahil nag-quit nga siya dati sa PBB Season 3. Tanda pa namin noon ang sinabi niyang wala siyang pakialam sa fame ng pag-aartista basta ang importante, ma-kapiling niya ang GF ni-yang si Eula Valdez sa birthday nito.

At dahil nga sa pag-quit niya sa PBB, naramdaman niyang tinabangan na sa kanya ang ABS-CBN at hindi na siya binigyan ng TV guestings sa Kapamilya shows. Totoo naman daw na hindi siya naghahangad ng fame sa showbiz, ang importante lang sa kanya ay trabaho. Kaya habang wala siyang modelling stints sa abroad, pumayag siyang gawin muna ang D Survivors para may pagkakitaan.

Tinanggap din niya ang role bilang lover ni Fanny Serrano sa indie film na Tarima. And take note, may love scene at torrid kissing scene sila ni Fanny dito. Okey lang daw sa kanya ang ganoong eksena dahil trabaho lang naman daw ang habol niya. Pinagpistahan nga ng mga bading ang nude photo niya sa Internet at panay ang kantiyaw ng mga bading na maliit lang naman pala daw ang patotoy niya.

“Siyempre patay pa ‘yun, pero oras na mabuhay na ‘yun, magdasal na sila!” hamon ni Rocky.

Sa ika-16 na taon ng The Filipino Channel (TFC), sinimulan ang pagpapalabas ng Ka­pa­mil­ya shows sa Rogers Cable, ang nangu­ngu­nang ca­ble service provider sa Canada. Dahil sa hak­bang na ito, mas magiging madali para sa mga Pili­pinong taga-Canada ang mag­karoon ng TFC.

Unang nagkaroon ng TFC signal ang mga sub­scri­bers ng Rogers Cable noong ika-26 ng Abril. Ito’y matapos pirmahan ang memorandum of ag­ree­ment sa pagitan ng ABS-CBN Canada ULC at Rogers Communications, Inc. Hudyat ito ng mas malawak na cable footprint para sa TFC na ngayo’y sakop na rin ang Silangang bahagi ng Ca­nada, ka­sa­ma na ang Ontario, New Bruns­wick at Quebec.

Angel Locsin nag-birthday sa Golden Acres

PINAKA-MEANINGFUL na yata ang naisip na gesture ni Angel Locsin to mark her 25th birthday recently.

She decided na i-celebrate ang kanyang birthday with the ‘housemates’ ng Golden Acres (yes, the Home for the Aged).

Ang nabanggit na selebrasyon ay ginanap right after her live guesting sa ASAP XV last Sunday.

“Actually, matagal din itong plinano ni Angel,” anang kanyang road manager na si JD.

“When she met with her team, sabi ni Angel, type niyang maging kaiba naman ang celebration for her birthday this year.”

If you recall, nasa Payatas si Angel last year to give gifts for the young residents there.

She also brought food at kasalo siyang kumain ng mga ito.

“Tanong niya sa amin, ‘have you heard of the Golden Acres?’” patuloy ni JD. “This time, I want to visit the housemates there. Even for just one day, gusto kong madama nila na may mga nagmamahal sa kanila.”

Since there was not much time, JD went on, everyone in the team was assigned a particular task.

Someone was asked to inform all the companies behind the products that Angel endorses about the plan and ask them if they would want to help.

Happily, all of them did naman. They would have wanted to do more – if needed.

“Angel, however,” tukoy ni JD, “requested them to send basic things na nilagay sa loot bags at ipinamigay sa mga housemate.”

Tulad na lang ng bath towels, which Mosbeau volunteered to donate. Mga tsinelas naman ang pinili ng Folded & Hung na ibigay. Myra E’s contribution ay tablets of Vitamin E.

Head & Shoulders naman gave away shampoo in sachet packs. A new endorsement for a canned good, meanwhile, supplied Angel with the products she will endorse for them soon.

Dahil wala pa nga siyang sabong pampaganda na iniendorso, someone in the team volunteered to request Dermaline bath soaps from Dina Stalder.

McDonald’s, on the other hand, supplied food.

“Nakakataba ng puso talaga ang support na ibinigay sa akin ng mga taong nabanggit.

“I’m glad I’m endorsing their products,” ani Angel.

Piolo Pas­cual, loyal

Balitang aalis din ng ABS-CBN si Piolo Pas­cual, susundan niya ang ehemplo ng ilan niyang Kapamilya na nangapitbahay. ’Yun nga lang, ’di tulad ng ibang gumagawa nito, hindi na sila bumabalik.

Sa isang interview, sinabi ni Piolo na wala siyang balak na lumipat ng bahay.

“I’m very much a Kapamilya. Wala akong balak lumipat. Masaya ako sa kinalalagyan ko. Hindi ko alam kung saan nanggagaling ang ganyang balita. Hindi totoo,” sabi ng pambatong aktor ng Dos.

Nagkaroon ng ganitong balita matapos na lisa­nin ng ilang Kapamilya ang network at lumipat sa dalawang kalabang istasyon. Hindi mo naman sila masisisi dahil career move ang ginawa nila. Ku­mon­ti na ang mga projects nila at ang ilang nati­ra ay hindi naman sila nabigyan ng karam­patang pagpapahalaga.

Pero si Piolo no problem. Kuntento siya sa pag-aalaga sa kanya. Hindi lamang sa telebisyon kundi maging sa pelikula. Isa siya sa mga nagdadala ng network. So, bakit siya aalis?

Epileptic attack ni Noynoy, itinanggi ni Kris

Mabilis na pinabulaanan ni Kris Aquino ang kumalat na text message kahapon na nagkaroon ng epileptic attack si Sen. Noynoy Aquino habang nangangampanya sa Isabela.

Heto ang reaction ni Kris sa kumalat na tsismis na sinagot niya sa Twitter.

“My sister Viel & Jodi got fake text about Noy having epileptic attack in Isabela rally-Noy is healthy-finished Batanes. Now going to Tuguegarao then Aparri. Remember to those spreading na sick si Noy or dying-super bilis ng KARMA!”

“Basically, ito na talaga ’yung magiging pahinga namin mula nung nagpakasal kami dahil dire-diretso na kami nagtrabaho, dire-diretso na lahat ng mga ginawa namin. Tapos, pagbalik, tatapusin ko lang ’yung movie sa Unitel and then promo for Viva movie and then pahinga na ’ko,” pahayag ni Juday.

Matatandaang katatapos lang nilang mag-last taping day for Habang May Buhay at ngayong Sunday ay pilot episode naman ng Your Song Presents Gimik 2010 kung saan ay kasama siya sa cast since as we all know ay isa naman siya talaga sa original cast 10 years ago.

Bale sa bagong Gimik, silang lima nina Mylene Dizon, Bojo Molina, Giselle Toengi at Diether Ocampo ang nakasama pa rin among the original cast. Wala na sina Rico Yan, Jolina Magdangal at Marvin Agustin.

Ayon kay Juday, nakaka-hinayang din daw na hindi na sila solid pero nakaka-takot naman daw kung mabubuo pa sila dahil ibig sabihin ay nandiyan si Rico Yan na as we all know ay matagal nang sumakabi-lang buhay.

Si Rico bilang Ricky ang parner ni Juday at ayon sa aktres, sa bagong kuwento ay nag-divorce na sila.

“Si Gary (Diet) and si Gina (G. Toengi), sila ’yung married, Melanie (Mylene) and Brian (Bojo) are married, Sc (Jolina) and Joey (Marvin) parang hindi ko na maalala, parang kasal din ata pero parang may problema. Ang tina-tackle ngayon nung original cast ng Gimik is ’yung marital problems na, ’yung tala-gang marami pa ring makaka-relate,” kuwento ni Juday.

Sa mga kasama naman nilang younger generation, ani Juday ay naniniwala siyang may mga talent naman daw ang mga ito.

“Sa totoo lang, bigyan lang sila ng mas konti pang panahon at atensyon pagdating sa pag-arte, malayo naman ang mararating nila siguro mula Cubao hanggang Laguna (laughs), sa totoo, mabigyan lang sila ng tamang tsansa na mapag-aralan ng mabuti ang craft nila, mga bata pa kasi so siyempre may mga times na naglalaro, pero ’pag nagte-take naman nakikinig naman, nauuna lang ’yung nerbiyos.

“Siguro dahil nandu’n sina Mylene, nandu’n kami, mga artistang matatabil, so siyempre medyo siguro natatakot ’yung mga bata. Siguro more confidence lang, pero I’m sure na may mararating ‘tong mga batang to bigyan lang ng sapat na atensyon,” say pa ng Young Superstar.

Actor Diether Ocampo has put up the website www.loqal.ph where readers can access news from various local sectors that are not usually covered by traditional media. To gain a wider readership, Diether made Yahoo Philippines a partner in his newest pet project which also promotes business enterprises. “Loqal.ph is actually a content provider in a multimedia format. Tapos yung partnership namin with Yahoo, we will be providing content for them. They can pick up our news na hindi usually nakikita dahil nakasentro lang lagi dun sa mga mainstream news. With all his work commitments plus his responsibilities with KIDS Foundation, Diether admits that it’s really a challenge to make time for all his endeavors. Pokwang Boyfriend - Ryan Navarro Picture, Photo

Rumor has it that Pokwang has a boyfriend. His name is Ryan Navarro, a police officer from Dallas, Texas. Read the report:

Kuwento ni Pokwang: “Isa nga sa performances namin was in Dallas.

“Our producers really made sure na may kaukulang security officer sa bawat performance ng grupo.

“In this particular performance of ours in Dallas, hayun at ito ngang si Ryan Navarro, yes, that’s his name, ang naatasang police officer to look after us.

“It was easy to spot Ryan in the crowd. ’Di lang siya guwapo, aliw na aliw siya sa performance ko.

“At heto na, after the performance, he approached me, introduced himself at humingi pa ng autograph ko.

“Bago siya nagpaalam, he handed me his calling card at sabi pa, if I feel like calling him daw, I should do so.

According to Pokwang, Ryan plans to visit her in the Philippines in August.

Which, according to the comedienne, ay tamang- tama dahil she plans to have a concert at the Araneta Coliseum that time.

Meantime, Pokwang hopes to make the most of her concert on Friday, April 30, sa Metro Comedy Bar. Titled Okay Ka, Pokie Ko, Pokwang will direct the concert herself based on a script by Ronald Padriga.

John Estrada and Priscilla Meirelles Wedding Soon

John Estrada and Priscilla Meirelles are leaving for Brazil once he finishes his soap opera. John and Priscilla have been together for three years and wedding plans are in place. “Aalis kami papuntang Brazil. Doon ko hihingin ang kamay niya sa tatay at nanay niya. Even if it is not part of their culture to ask for a girl’s hand in marriage, I feel it is needed. Formality yon. I have never been to Brazil and this is also my chance to meet her relatives,” explained John.

Priscilla is excited about her forthcoming trip to Brazil with John. “I have so many beautiful things to show him. And I am sure he will love it.”

John is welcome in Priscilla’s family. The former Miss Earth said that “the two times that my parents have been around (in the Philippines), John has always been very polite and nice to them. I guess it’s payback time and I am sure we are all going to be happy there and we are all going to enjoy.”

John said that he and Priscilla plan to marry in February next year. It will be a big wedding with Priscilla’s friends and best friend coming in from the US as well as her aunt. “Maraming kaibigan si John dito so siguro malaki ang entourage,” added Priscilla.

“The forthcoming wedding is a big step in our lives. We are becoming one. It’s both exciting and thrilling at the same time,” said John.

Direk Joyce Bernal: I'm not alcoholic

The buzz that award-winning director Joyce Bernal has gone alcoholic and is on rehab is an outrageous lie! The affable director who is working on a movie project with Aga Muhlach and TV shows in three different networks belied these egregious tales. She also vehemently denied reports that she is causing the delay of her movie project with Aga Muhlach and Regine Velasquez. In a phone patch interview, direk Joyce said, “Yes, I do drink but I am not an alcoholic because I am functional. I am doing two movies and I have three TV shows sa tatlong network. If I were in a rehab I won’t be able to work on my shows.”

Joyce said her actors can attest to this. “Ask Aga (Muhlach) or Regine (Velasquez), or Robin (Padilla) and Toni (Gonzaga). Si Eugene Domingo, katrabaho ko po mga yan.”

Her friends in the industry are rallying behind her. “I think she is misinterpreted and misunderstood. Wala siyang bisyo. She drinks when she unwinds. It’s also not true that she drinks every night,” said Aga.

“Bb. Joyce works hard and she plays really hard. Pag party, party talaga. Hindi totoo ang kumakalat na alcoholic siya,” added Eugene Domingo.

Joyce assured audiences that she is fit to work and has offered to give her phone number to whoever is spreading the negative news about her. “If there is truth to the rumor, I would seek help at aaminin ko naman.”

Nikki Gil now an ALV Talent

Just because Nikki Gil has decided not to renew her management contract with Star Magic after a four-year harmonious working relationship doesn’t mean that something has gone awry between both camps, nor she is transferring to rival station with beau Billy Crawford as mentioned in a tab blind item.

Her best friend Iya Villania and Billy, both ALV talents, have also nothing to do with Nikki’s decision to sign a management contract with Arnold Vegafria’s ALV. It’s more on how talents are being handled that convinced Nikki to jump ober da bakod.

“The change (of career management) is not an overnight thing. It has been given a lot of thought and we have been meeting with both camps — ALV and Star Magic family and we have come to agree that it would be best for me to go with ALV in order to achieve the direction that I want to take,” Nikki explains.

That direction points to an opportunity to perform as a solo artist which Nikki longs to do since she entered showbiz five years ago as a singer.

Remember that Coke TV ad where she initially let everyone hear the kind of voice first discovered by a talent scout inside a church where she used to sing as a choir member? Since then, Nikki has become a household name that captured everyone’s attention through various product endorsements. Her acting talent also paved the way for her to portray roles in the big and small screens.

But it was GMA 7’s Eat, Bulaga! that gave Nikki hosting exposure followed by a two-week stint in Extra Challenge and an appearance in S.O.P. What if there’s an offer to join Party Pilipinas as soon as her contract in A.S.A.P. XV expires in June?

“I’m a new (ALV) talent and we haven’t discussed yet as far as transferring is concerned but I will leave that to my manager. I’ll go where I’m needed.”

Is Billy excited now that they’re together in one talent agency? Are they a package deal?

“I love to be with Billy on tours but that’s just a girlfriend’s wish. The opportunity to work together is just a bonus because Billy and I try to separate business from our personal relationship,” answers Nikki who also keeps in touch with Billy’s mom.

Besides, meddling in career decisions is a no-no to both of them. But there is one thing that would make Billy frown: Seeing Nikki in a sexy pose for magazine covers. “I can wear bikini but it’s not my specialty to pose for covers. Let’s just leave it to other artists,” she says.

Singing, hosting, VJ-ing and acting, she adds, are enough to show people what she’s got. Playing opposite Coco Martin in Agimat: Tonyong Bayawak helps hone her craft while Atlantis Productions’ Legally Blonde (The Musical) which will be staged in June at Meralco Theater is another effective way to play roles that require rigid preparation because one can’t afford to have a Take 2. Nikki will be playing Elle Woods and is now attending yoga sessions and hitting the gym two or three times a week to be physically fit for the role.

“I’m not that physically active but it seems this is my season of changes — theater and a new management — so along with that transition I’m starting to hit the gym,” she says.

Nagpaliwanag ang American Idol runner-up na may clean image, si David Archuleta, matapos kumalat sa Internet na nagpunta siya sa sikat na gay bar sa New York, ang Club 57, noong Sabado, April 17, sa imbitasyon ni Charice. Dahil dito, nagkaroon ng pagdududa sa sexuality ng batang singer.

Sa mga sunud-sunod na tweet sa kanyang Twitter account nag-react si David A. na minsan nang pumunta dito sa Pilipinas: “Hey guys just wanted to clear something up real quick lol. I guess you live and learn.

Sarah Geronimo on Mark Bautista and Rachelle Ann Go

SARAH Geronimo admits she felt sad upon learning that fellow Viva artists Mark Bautista and Rachelle Ann Go moved to GMA-7 and became part of Party Pilipinas, the main competition of “ASAP XV.” The three of them used to be in the latter show.

“Yes, I won’t deny that I became sad with that development. We’ve been in ASAP for seven years. We became a group called The Champions. It’s hard because I’m already used to doing production numbers with them but now, it’s no longer the case every Sunday. It was a sudden decision and I was surprised,” she said.

But the Pop Princess wants to have an open mind with regard to the issue.

“Yes, I understand that it was a mutual decision between them and Viva. We have to respect that. I’m sure they have valid reasons why they transferred.”

It’s inevitable that the once allies now become rivals. Despite this, Sarah assures that their friendship will remain intact.

“That’s what I can promise. We can still do road shows together. I just wish them luck. I know that God has a plan for them. I have faith in their talent. I hope GMA will take care of them very well.”

KC Concepcion admits dating someone

ONE good thing about KC Concepcion is that she knows what and where she is into. Showbiz is a career she’s so at home with, not only because of her parents who dearly love and protect her. Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion can only be proud of their daughter because of her own achievements, one of which is being Ambassador of Goodwill for UNICEF.

During the press launch of her second CD, simply titled KC, she sang like she was just conversing and had no effort to impress the press people. She composed three songs in the album. Was she inspired by someone? She admits she's dating, but she's mum about his identity.

But after a while, she stressed that she's inspired by her family. In fact, in her album cover, she scribbled some notes of thanks to everyone who matters to her from her mom, her grandma, stepdad Sen. Kiko Pangilinan and Papa Gabby Concepcion. Apart from her sisters, Miel and Frankie, she dedicates the album to her other siblings from her father’s side, Garie ( daughter of Grace Ibuna), Cloie (daughter of Jenny Syquia who KC describes as her look-alike) and Sam (daughter of Ginbee Yatco) and lastly to Miguel, the adopted son of mega and Sen. Kiko.

KC admits that with the advent of Facebook, she can communicate with all her siblings. Now we know why KC is so blessed.

Siya ang nabalitang ginu-groom ng Kapamilya bilang susunod na prinsesa ng drama from among their home-grown talents. Ngayon pa lang ay pinaghahandaan na raw ng Dos ang isang bonggang serye para sa batang aktres na, in fairness, maga-ling naman talaga.

NAGBIGAY ng reaksyon si Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos tungkol sa lumalabas na balitang diumano’y may plano siyang mag-quit sa gobernatorial race sa Batangas. Hindi rin niya nagustuhan na ikino-quote pa siya ng kanyang mga kalaban at pinalalabas na nagmamakaawa siya tuwing mangangampanya sa kanyang mga kababayan.

PINAHANGA kami nang husto ni KC Concepcion nu’ng kantahin niya ang kanyang songs sa bagong album under Sony Music titled KC.

Very commercial ang kanyang carrier single na Not Like the Movies na sinulat pa ng isang banyaga. May sa-riling compositions din si KC sa album niyang ito. Pe-ro sino kaya ang naging inspirasyon niya sa pagsulat ng magagandang kantang ito?

“Bakit si Piolo? Wala naman akong specific na tao na inspirasyon. Basta humugot lang ako sa mga pinagdadaanan ng isang babae in general. Karamihan ay kinuha ko sa own experiences ko at sa experiences ng close friends ko.

“Kung in love ako nga-yon? I really cannot say na ganu’n nga. Basta I’m happy now. I’m meeting people here and there. Hindi ko masasabing I’m dating but I go out with male friends. Maganda ‘yung maraming mapagpipilian.

“Piolo and I are very good friends. We are closer than ever and that’s a very good thing. Nagte-textan kami kahit hindi kami nagkikita,” mahabang kuwento ni KC.

Iniintriga si KC ngayon bilang kapalit ni Ruffa Gu-tierrez na host sa The Buzz.

WOE to the detractors of Judy Ann Santos for circulating the rumor that the actress had a miscarriage. Why can't they be happy for Juday who is enjoying her stage of motherhood?

Well, Juday is doing fine and is taking all necessary precautions and completely ignoring the negative things they spread about her current condition.

Sa presscon kahapon ng kanyang pangalawang album sa Sony Records, inamin ni KC na may inspirasyon siya pero hindi niya sinabi ang name ng mhin.

Kahit hindi nagbigay ng clue si KC, tiyak na malalaman ng mga reporters ang kanyang mystery inspiration. Magaling sa hanapan ang showbiz press. Mag-uunahan sila sa pagdiskubre kung sino ang lucky guy.

While so far only four GMA talents — Paolo Bediones, JC de Vera, Rainier Castillo and Pauleen Luna who is under contract with TAPE Inc., producer of Eat, Bulaga! — have hopped over to TV5, a considerable number of Kapamilya have, so to speak, moved house, including such heavyweights as Ruffa Gutierrez, Maricel Soriano and Dolphy, all to TV5; Claudine Barretto, Mark Bautista and, recently, Rachelle Ann Go, all to GMA (photo at right shows Rachelle during the contract-signing with, from left, Viva senior VP Veronique del Rosario Corpus, GMA Network EVP/COO Gilberto R. Duavit Jr., GMA president/CEO Felipe L. Gozon, GMA SVP for Entertainment Wilma V. Galvante and GMA Films president Annette Gozon-Abrogar).

Could it be true that Billy Crawford and girlfriend Nikki Gil are “seriously thinking” of turning Kapuso, too? What about Iya Villania, Christian Bautista and...et tu?...Luis Manzano?

Mark Bautista and Rachelle Ann Go are Viva stars. Now that they have jumped ober da bakod, will their Kapamilya Viva colleagues Sarah Geronimo and Anne Curtis follow suit?

Venus Raj May Reclaim Bb. Pilipinas Crown

The Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) through its Director Madam Stella Araneta said in a statement that they will give back the Bb. Pilipinas Universe crown to Maria Venus Raj if only the latter could produce a valid Philippine passport in a month and a half time.

Here’s the full statement sent by Ms. Araneta to veteran columnist Ricky Lo:

Dear Ricky,

The executive committee of Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) announced today that after due deliberation we have re-assessed the situation pertaining to Ms. Maria Venus Raj and have decided, for humanitarian reasons, that if she’s able to obtain a valid Philippine passport, we will reinstate her as the reigning Bb. Pilipinas Universe.

The committee emphasized that “We are sensitive to her situation but we are aware to our responsibilities as an entity existing under Philippine law.

The BPCI being an organization concerned not just to the quest for the true Filipina beauty but moreso dedicated to the empowerment of women and the upliftment of the lives of marginalized Filipinos has always considered will fair of our candidates far amount.

Our intention with respect to Ms. Raj was always to protect her in a way we feel appropriate. More than the yearly Bb. Pilipinas pageant, BPCI’s relevance as an organization lies in the main opportunity to provide a deserving Filipinas and we are hopeful that Venus will be that Filipinas to represent our country to this year’s Ms. Universe Pageant.

Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash of 2010

The public are invited to join in welcoming the new housemates live in front of the “Pinoy Big Brother” house this Saturday (April 10), 7pm. “Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash of 2010: Let the Clash Begin” will air at 10pm of the same day at ABS-CBN.

PBB hosts Toni Gonzaga, Mariel Rodriguez and Bianca Gonzalez are also glad to be reunited in the newest edition of the phenomenal reality program.

“When I’m with Mariel at Bianca, parang di kami nagtratrabaho,” Gonzaga said. Gonzalez echoed this saying, “It doesn’t feel like work at all kung kasama mo ‘yung mga bestfriends mo na halos sisters mo na talaga.” “Iba ‘yung bonding namin pag-PBB kami,” Rodriguez added.

Aside from the hosts, the people are also speculating about Kuya’s gimmick for this season. If in “PBB Teen Plus,” the “plus” was revealed to be the guardians who lived with teen housemates inside the house and the “double up” in “PBB Double Up” turned out to be the double houses and double surprises every week, people are talking about what the “clash” in “Teen Clash of 2010” is about.

Star Cinema continues quality commitment

THE last time we had a talk with Charo Santos, president of ABS-CBN, she didn’t sound too enthusiastic about the state of the movie industry. She sadly told us she expected to be fielding only eight films this year. This is really bad news since Star Cinema is truly the only network outfit consistently coming out with movies even at the onset of the crisis in the industry.

Research shows that in 1997, Star released a record 24 films which means the company was still doing well. After that it was a steady decline with eight pictures in 2008, nine last year, and for 2010 three pictures already released "Paano na Kaya," "Miss You Like Crazy," and "Babe, I Love You" still showing in the theaters. The fourth, "I’ll be There for You" with KC Concepcion, her father Gabby, and Jericho Rosales as leading man has trailers already playing in the theaters.

Figures from SM and Robinsons, however, were more encouraging. In 2008, they report that four of the top five films from Star Cinema dominated the list of blockbuster films. In 2009, "You Changed My Life" was tagged by Box Office Mojo as the Highest Top-Grossing Filipino Movie of all Time as of April last year with US$4.7 million.

This Star-Viva co-production with John Lloyd Cruz (from Star) and Sarah Geronimo (from Viva) followed the blockbuster first team-up, "A Very Special Love" both megged by Cathy Garcia Molina. We had watched both these films in the theater and although there were times we cringed with embarrassment over scenes like Sarah’s rain dance, we would look around us and find the audience laughing with glee and not with embarrassment. This is the reason why we always watch movies in a theater because that is the real audience whether we like it or not.

This week, we watched the latest offering from Star Cinema and Viva, this time with Anne Curtis and Sam Milby doing a comeback team-up after their much written about breakup. "Babe, I Love You" also marks director Mae Cruz in her first feature film. We were anxious to see what this girl had up her sleeve. Apparently, she learned well from her training from production assistant in Magic Temple to director in "Maalaala mo Kaya" to the trilogy "Because of You" to the primetime soap, "Maging Sino Ka Man" where she worked with both Sam and Anne and got to know them very well.

One thing good about ABS is that they really train their creative team and directors, giving those with the best potential the chance to direct a movie. Mae has a firm hold of the material given her. She has mastered the science of manipulation, when to milk a scene for all it is worth, when to let go, with everything realistically done and believable to the minutest detail. Our friend who watched the movie with us kept saying, “Nakakainis ang direktor nito. Ayoko naman umiyak eh. Nakakainis kasi sobrang pagka-totoo.” (I don’t like this director. I don’t like to cry. But I’m crying because the situation comes across so real).

With Mae Cruz’ auspicious coming out film, Star Cinema has added another woman to its stellar selection of homegrown female talents Olivia Lamasan, Rory Quintos, Cathy Garcia Molina, Trina Dayrit.

We also found both Anne and Sam most comfortable in their roles in the movie. Anne as loud mouthed denizen of the slums is a difficult enough character to tackle but she did it quite creditably. Sam as the son who never quite measured up to his mother’s expectations attacked his role with quiet simple sincerity which worked. It also must have helped him that a lot of the dialogue required him to speak in English.

Next from Star Cinema is the KC team-up of KC-Echo-Gabby. So far, the projects of Star Cinema remind us of the old Viva Films when they used to come up with the glossy commercial blockbusters that also won during awards season. Star Cinema has similarly consistently been rated with an A or a B by the Ratings Board while breaking the box office.

Boy Abunda gumitna sa tapatang Greta-Claudine

LAST Thursday night, nagsalita na si Boy Abunda sa SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon hinggil sa talk of the town na pagtatapatan ng magkapatid na sina Gretchen at Claudine Barretto.

Si Kuya Boy ang manager ni Greta kaya kung meron mang higit na may karapatang magbigay-linaw sa issue, siya ’yon since siya ang nakikipag-usap para sa mga proyektong inaalok sa alaga.

Sinegundahan ni Kuya Boy ang naging pahayag ni Greta na wala talagang kinalaman ang mga artista kung kailan ipalalabas ang ginawang proyekto at kung ano’ng programa ang makakatapat.

“Kapag tumatawag po ang isang tao tungkol sa iyong artista,” simulang paliwanag ni Kuya Boy, “ang una naming tinatanong ay tungkol sa proyekto, ano ba ang storyline, ano ba ang material — synopsis, ’ika nga, ang hinihingi ko — tapos ’yung availability ng artista.

“Pero hindi namin tinatanong kung kailan ipapalabas. At mas lalo na po, hindi namin itinatanong kung anong katapat na palabas. So, I take full responsibility kasi hindi ito concern ng aking artista na si Gretchen Barretto. She has nothing to do with this.”

Ni-reveal din ng talent manager-TV host na at first, tinanggihan na ni Greta ang episode ng Maalaala Mo Kaya na ipalalabas ngayong Sabado even without knowing na makakatapat nga nito ang drama anthology, Claudine, ng younger sister sa kabilang istasyon.

Pero ani Kuya Boy, kinumbinsi niya ang aktres dahil alam niyang napakaganda ng materyal, kung saan ay gaganap itong isang dalagang na-in-love sa isang pari.

“Sinabi niyang ayaw na muna niya, pass na muna siya. But when I read the synopsis of the MMK episode, I called her, and this is rare, mga kaibigan, dahil hindi naman po talaga ako tumatawag, I don’t. Kapag sinabi niyang hindi, I respect the decision, ’di ba? Pero sabi ko, ‘Gretch, I don’t think you should let this pass. It’s too good for you to pass. Basahin mo ang istorya, I asked for the script, then you make your decision,’” saad ni Kuya Boy.

At ’yun na nga, nagustuhan din ni Greta ang story, kaya heto nga’t ipalalabas na this Saturday ang nasabing episode.

So, abangan na lang natin kung sino sa kanila ni Claudine ang magwawagi sa ratings ngayong gabi.

Karylle wardrobe malfunction -- oh no!

The Karylle wardrobe malfunction may not even be something people would want to see. There is nothing to it, really. Read the story below.

First it’s Anne Curtis. Now, it’s Karylle.

Seems it wasn’t only Anne who figured in a wardrobe malfunction incident during the “ASAP XV” Boracay taping a month ago. Now, netizens are feasting on another controversial photo this time involving Karylle.

The photo that surfaced in cyberspace captured the singer whose bra top appears to have slipped. She was doing a production number in the shot with Yeng Constantino and Vina Morales. The photo surfaced in another entertainment website on April 8.

“TV Patrol” segment host Marie Lozano says it wasn’t a nip slip but a wardrobe malfunction.

“Two reliable sources tell me Karylle was wearing a nipple tape during her wardrobe malfunction in ASAP XV in Boracay. Nothing to see guys!” Lozano first tweeted April 8.

Then, hours later, she posted another tweet message assuring everyone that it wasn’t what it appears to be.

“There was a wardrobe malfunction but not much was exposed coz karylle was wearing a nipple tape. Techically, no nip slip!”

In the same "ASAP XV" taped episode, Anne’s bra top slipped which caused her left boob to be exposed. Her "Babe I Love You" leading man Sam Milby was quick to cover her from behind. The taping was halted as Anne was crying profusely after the incident.

People in the production pleaded to the audience to erase any photo or video which captured Anne’s nip slip. Some followed but others didn’t.

A few days later, Anne’s nip slip videos and photos made it to cyberspace. Alarmed, Anne’s management Viva Artist Agency through its head Veronique del Rosario-Corpus issued a statement pleading the public to stop posting pictures and videos of their talent in that uncompromising situation.

A lot of Anne’s fans posted messages of support for the actress in their Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Anne’s leading man and ex-boyfriend Sam Milby defended the actress from insinuations that it was done intentionally to create noise for their movie “Babe I Love You.”

"It was an accident at hindi naman sinadya. I mean, some people said it's for promotion or whatever. I mean, why do we need to expose her for promotion? Sobrang disrespectful and for tabloid to have it on a front cover...That was really disrespectful," Sam said almost angrily.

Anne’s camp sought legal opinion from their lawyers but they eventually decided not to file a case against the tabloid that first published Anne's controversial photo.

Gretchen Barretto nag-walk-out sa sariling presscon

KUNG nag-walk out si Kris Aquino sa taping niya ng Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo dahil sa isyu sa anak na si Baby James, aba, hindi nagpahuli si Gretchen Barretto.

Sa presscon ni Greta bilang bagong endorser ng Glutamax nu’ng isang gabi ay bigla ring nag-walk out ang singer-actress dahil narindi na yata sa dami ng mga tanong tungkol sa pagkakatapat ng Maalaala Mo Kaya episode niya at ang pilot episode ng drama-series ng younger sister na si Claudine sa GMA-7.

“Ayoko na,” ito raw ang nasambit ni Gretchen sabay tayo sa upuan at umalis sa venue. Nu’ng una, okey lang daw kay Greta ang mga tanong at masaya pa itong humarap sa press people.

Nasabi pa ng bagong Kapamilya artist na wala si-yang alam sa pagkakatapat ng MMK kung saan siya ang lead actress sa drama-anthology ng kapatid sa kabilang network.

Pero hindi na naalis ang mga tanong tungkol sa kanya at kay Claudine, kaya nasabi tuloy ni Greta na: “Magkapatid kami. Hindi kami dapat pag-awa-yin.”

Hindi ito na unang pagwo-walk out si Gretchen sa harap ng entertainment press. Ginawa na rin niya ito sa Entertainment Live kung saan naging topic ang magkaroon sila ng hidwaan ni Nadia Montenegro two years ago.

ABS-CBN Core Net Income in 2009

ABS-CBN Core Net Income Jumps 37% in 2009 to P1.79 Billion. The core net income of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation (ABS-CBN), the country’s largest multimedia conglomerate, jumped by P481 million or 37% to P1.79 billion in 2009.

ABS-CBN delivered consolidated revenues of P24.85 billion from advertising and consumer sales, posting an increase of P2.54 billion or 11% year-on-year, inclusive of full-year revenue contribution from Sky Cable totalling P3.72 billion. Sky Cable contributed P3.58 billion to consumer sales and P138 million to airtime revenues.

The Company’s fast-growing consumer sales businesses continued to raise their overall share of revenues, reaching 42% of consolidated revenues in 2009 from double-digit growth in the subscription businesses of ABS-CBN Global and in the contribution of Sky Cable.

Consumer sales in 2009 rose by P1.59 billion to P10.39 billion, an 18% rise over 2008 consumer sales of P8.80 billion. ABS-CBN Global’s contribution share to total consumer sales amounted to 51%, while Sky Cable’s contribution share increased to 34% with its subscription and service revenues contribution of P3.58 billion, which is P1.0 billion more than its three-quarter revenue contribution in 2008.

Despite a weak first quarter and a six-month deferral of airtime rate increases to August 2009, consolidated advertising revenues grew by P952 million or 7% year-on-year to P14.46 billion, with 92% coming from Channel 2, Manila Radio and the Regional Network Group.

Total expenses grew by P2.52 billion or 13% year-on-year to P22.40 billion, driven mostly by higher costs of sales and services and general and administrative expenses (GAEX), with an additional quarter of expenses from Sky Cable. Total production costs in 2009 rose by only 2% or P133 million, to P6.29 billion.

A tight control over operating expenses and prudent financial management resulted in core net income reaching P1.79 billion in 2009, 37% or P481 million higher than the P1.31 billion posted in 2008.

Net income attributable to shareholders for 2009 went up by 23% year-on-year or P318.93 million, to P1.70 billion, from 2008’s net income attributable to shareholders of P1.38 billion,after an P85.25 million accounting adjustment required under Philippine Financial Reporting Standard 3.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) reached P6.51 billion, yielding an EBITDA margin of 26% for 2009, and is 7% or P405 million better than 2008 EBITDA of P6.11 billion. Capital expenditures and film and program rights acquisitions in 2009 amounted to P2.95 billion, just P33 million or 1% higher from the previous year.

Even amidst weak economic conditions and depressed consumer spending in major economies
worldwide, ABS-CBN Global’s overall viewer count increased by 13% to an estimated 2.16 million worldwide by year-end. Driven by strong double-digit subscriber growth in the United States, the Middle East, Australia, Canada and the Asia-Pacific, ABS-CBN Global’s subscription and other service revenues grew 8% year-on-year in US dollar terms and by 16% growth in peso terms.

Sky Cable’s digitalization of its cable network and roll-out of Digiboxes to 50% of its Metro Manila subscribers in 2009, enabled it to address cable piracy, offer the country’s first pre-paid cable TV packages, as well as introduce Skycable Select, a low-priced post-paid cable TV package that allows subscribers to add more channels to their basic subscription an a la carte basis.

Sky Cable also expanded its product portfolio with the launch of Sky Broadband, the fastest residential broadband service with speeds of up to 12 Mbps, and Sky Voice, the most affordable international voice-calling service, and pioneered the offering of HD-quality cable TV content in the Philippines with Sky Cable HD in 2009.

ABS-CBN sustained its dominance in local television in 2009 with its heart-warming and inspiring dramas, light and amusing comedy shows, and engaging reality programs in the afternoons and on primetime, such as the Precious Hearts Romances drama mini-series, Kambal sa Uma, May Bukas Pa, Tayong Dalawa, Katorse, Showbiz News Ngayon, Banana Split and Pinoy Big Brother Double Up, along with the long-running daily noontime show Wowowee and Sunday musical variety program ASAP. This high-quality entertainment fare was complemented by relevant weekday and weekend news and current affairs programs — Umagang Kay Ganda, TV Patrol World, Bandila, Matanglawin and Rated K!, among others — highlighted with special coverages and documentaries of issues and events of national importance.

Charice on Oprah Show on May 11

International singing sensation and our very own Charice is slated to appear on the Oprah Winfrey Show once again, but this time, to promote her first international album.

Charice first appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show last May 12, 2008 in an episode entitled the “World’s Smartest Kids”, in which she performed Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing. It was through the recommendation of Oprah Winfrey that music producer David Foster took Charice under his wing.

Charice made a second appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show on the September 9 “Dreams Come True” episode, in which Oprah referred to her as “The Most Talented Girl in the World.” She sang Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” with David Foster on piano, then Oprah went on to surprise her with an appearance by Celine Dion via satellite, who invited her to sing a special duet at New York City’s Madison Square Garden
as part of Dion’s Taking Chances Tour (which was critically-acclaimed by the way).

After almost 2 years, Charice is slated to return to the Oprah Winfrey Show on May 11, 2010, to release her international debut album. The pre-order page on Oprah.com will be changed to “now on sale” and Charice’s campaign for Billboard 200 will also begin on this date.

Prior to the launch of her album, the official music video of Charice’s carrier single “Pyramid” will be released on Oprah.com on Monday, April 12, 2010. Kampihan nina Judy Ann, Claudine obvious na

NGAYON ay talagang obvious na magkakampi sina Claudine Barretto at Judy Ann Santos.

Nu’ng si Claudine ay tinawag na Drama Queen ng GMA-7, mabilis ni-yang sinabi na hindi lang siya ang reyna kungdi gayundin si Judy Ann Santos. Nu’ng mag-launching naman ng kanyang teleserye si Claudine, nagpadala pa ng mensahe si Juday sa pamamagitan ng VTR.

Talaga namang dapat silang magtulungan sa nga-yon, dahil kung hindi baka matabunan sila ng baguhang stars.

Actually ang kalaban nila ngayon ay hindi na ang isa’t isa kungdi ang bagong stars na nakakapagpa-rate na rin ng drama series sa mas mababa pang talent fee, kaysa sa kanilang dalawa, huh!

Noon siguro ay sila lang talaga ang magkalaban among our local talents natin. Isipin ninyo, ang katapat lang nila noon ay Korea-novela at Mexican soaps and that time pareho pa silang nasa ABS-CBN.

Doon sila nagpapataasan ng ratings dahil hindi naman makaabante ang GMA-7 noon na ang stars ay sina Angelika dela Cruz at Sunshine Dizon lang.

Nang medyo lumamig sina Juday at Claudine at saka naman biglang pasok ni Angel Locsin na natangay ng popularidad nila ni Richard Gutierrez at nakalaban na ang Kapuso Network sa Dos.

Ngayon na mas naging marami na ang stars ng ABS-CBN at GMA-7, na kahit masasabing starlets pa lang ay may kakayahang magdala ng isang serye o soap, sino pa ang magbabayad ng mataas na TF?

Kaya naman natural lang na dapat magkampihan sila.

Kris Aquino nag-walk-out!

ISANG mapagkakatiwalaang source ang tumawag sa amin kahapon para sabihin na biglang nag-walk-out si Kris Aquino sa taping ng primetime soap na Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo ng ABS-CBN.

Ayon sa source, bandang alas-nuwebe ng umaga ang call time ni Kris. Dumating naman daw ito, pero makalipas ang isa’t kalahating oras, bigla na lang lumayas nang walang paalam sa director at staff.

Ang balita, may kinalaman ang pagwo-walk-out ni Kris sa dami ng pumatol sa pagkakamali ni Baby James sa isang rally ng presidentiable niyang kapatid na si Sen. Noynoy Aquino.

Nangyari ang insidente sa isang campaign sortie sa Bacolod kung saan binanggit ni Baby James sa mic ang pangalan ng karibal ni Noynoy na si Sen. Manny Villar.

Willie's ex-wife Liz is dating Victor Aliwalas

BREAKING NEWS: My friend saw Liz Almoro, Willie Revillame’s ex-wife, having dinner with showbiz’s new hunk Victor Aliwalas. They were “sweet na sweet,” my friend added.

I called up Liz yesterday to verify and, yes, she confirmed that she and Victor are “just hanging out, that’s all” but they are not yet “on.” The marriage of Willie and Liz (above) has been annulled more than two years ago. They have a son, Juamee, who is with Liz.

During our brief phone chat, Liz said that Juamee, now four years old, is in nursery school.

“Please tell naman your friend (meaning Willie) to visit his son,” said Liz. (Willie, are you listening?) “The boy is growing up and he’s starting to look for his dad.”

I told Liz that I thought Willie was “barred” from seeing Juamee.

“No, he’s not,” said Liz. “The court has given him the go-signal noon pa. Sana naman, maalaala niyang bisitahin ang anak niya.”

Liz added that she’s now a certified Customs Administrator, having obtained her master’s degree from the Philippine Maritime Institute.

Incidentally, showbiz is not an alien territory to Liz. Before she met Willie, she had Christian Vasquez as boyfriend.
