Tears flow on the last episode of ‘Wowowee’

Dumating na nga kahapon sa bansa si Kris Aquino mula sa tatlong linggong pagbabakasyon kasama ang mga anak na sina Joshua at Baby James.

Sakay ng Philippine Airlines PR-113 flight from Los Angeles, dumating ang TV host-actress sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 alas-singko ng umaga.

Reports have it na pumila si Kris at naghintay ng kanyang turn sa immigration area and did not receive any special treatment.

Napag-alaman din naming nang makita si Kris ng mga airport reporters, ang unang tiningnan sa kanya ay ang kanyang tiyan since may balitang buntis siya. They found out na maliit naman ito at walang senyales na preggy nga si Tetay.

Sa panayam kay Kris ng mga reporter sa VIP lounge, itinanggi niya ang balitang seven months preggy siya at inaming hindi siya natuwa sa balita. Sinabi rin niyang nakatanggap siya ng tawag mula sa kapatid na si Pres. Noynoy Aquino at tinatanong din siya tungkol dito.

Natanong daw si Kris kung bakit gusto niyang wakasan ang marriage with James Yap at pakanta raw nitong sinagot na “It must have been love but it’s over now.”

Nasagot din daw ni Tetay ang tungkol sa isyung nili-link siya kay Sen. Chiz Escudero. Pinasinungalingan niya ang balita sa pagsasabing, “I’m not a homewrecker.”

Sa isang panayam, sinabi naman ni Kris na nag-enjoy siya sa kanyang three-week-vacation with the kids at nakapagpahinga mula sa stress and pressure of her hosting jobs.

Bandang 8:30 a.m. ay nakatanggap naman kami ng text message mula kay Kris na naglalaman ng inspirational quote, which means she’s really back. Pansamanta kasing natigil ang daily inspirational quotes na ipinadadala niya sa amin nang magpunta siya sa States.

“In case, you’ve missed me, I’m back!” pahayag ng kanyang mensahe at sinundan na ng quotation mula kay Arnold Glasgow which stated: “Live so that your friends can defend you but never have to.”

Since her arrival yesterday morning ay sobrang hectic na agad ng schedule ni Kris. Dumiretso agad siya sa rehearsal ng bagong noontime show na magsisimula ngayon, ang Pilipinas, Win na Win!, with Robin Padilla, Mariel Rodriguez, Pokwang and Valerie Concepcion.

May isang araw na lang kasi siya para pag-aralan ang concept at mechanics ng game.

Kasabay nito ay ang kabi-kabilang interview sa kanya sa TV kabilang na ang TV Patrol at SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon kung saan siya nakatakdang magsalita exclusively.

As expected, nagkaiyakan kahapon sa last telecast ng Wowowee.

Ang pinakasentro ng pamamaalam ay na kay Luis Manzano dahil as we all know, siya ang pinakamatagal na pumalit sa puwesto ni Willie Revillame.

Hindi mapigilang maging emotional ni Luis habang nagpapaalam sa lahat ng hosts at production staff.

Wala yatang hindi nag-iyakan kahapon sa studio mula sa hosts, staff at ’yung mga nasa audience. Maging sina Valerie, Pokwang at Mariel ay nag-iiyakan para sa mga kasamahang hindi na makakatrabaho.

Samantala, ngayong araw na ito na ang pinakahihintay na pagsisimula ng bagong noontime show na kapalit ng Wowowee, ang Pilipinas, Win na Win.

Kris Aquino: No turning back!

Step aside, pretenders. The real newsmaker is back!

“I’m moving on,” announced a chirpy Kris Aquino in a one-on-one with Funfare barely eight hours after she arrived at past 5 o’clock yesterday morning on a PAL flight from the States where she and her sons Joshua and Baby James took a three-week vacation. “There’s no turning back.”

Kris and company, including the kids’ nannies and Kris’ Guy Friday Alvin, left on July 8, two days before what would have been her and estranged husband James Yap’s fifth (civil) wedding anniversary. A day after she left for L.A. en route to Orlando, Florida, where she and her entourage took the Disney Wonder Cruise, Kris issued a statement through her lawyers that her marriage was over and her lawyers were working to nullify it.

Showbiz was ho-hum drab while Kris was away, orphaned by a “moving force” whose every word and every move makes headlines.

Sounding re-energized by the trip, Kris unwittingly broke the “vow of silence” that she imposed on herself in deference to Pres. Noynoy “P-Noy” Aquino who, seconded by sisters Ballsy, Viel and Pinky, requested Kris to kinda tone down a bit to avoid getting P-Noy into trouble. That’s why Kris quit the ABS-CBN showbiz shows The Buzz and SNN (Showbiz News Ngayon), which she co-hosted with soul mate Boy Abunda, which are susceptible to intrigues and tsismis unlike teleseryes and game shows which are not. Kris returns to one such game show, Pilipinas Win Na Win (PWNW), which will have its premiere today on ABS-CBN replacing the “beleaguered” Wowowee (which merited a “plug” from Donovan Tea [not Mark Preston as Funfare reported yesterday] during the duo and Lettermen co-member Tony Butala’s show last Wednesday night at the Big Dome).

Asked why she said in an earlier Funfare interview that everything between her and James “is over,” Kris said, “For three and a half years, we worked hard to save the marriage but it just didn’t work,” adding as if addressing James, “alam ko at alam mo na matagal na tayong miserable.”

The marriage, said to be doomed from the start because of the yawning socio-economic-cultural gap between Kris and James, was done secretly in Boy Abunda’s house, with less than 10 people present. It wasn’t officiated by then Quezon City Mayor (now Congressman) Sonny Belmonte, contrary to some reports.

Even during her absence, Kris kept the grapevine alive. Persistent rumors have been linking her to, among others, Sen. Chiz Escudero, Makati Mayor Junjun Binay (a widower), and young actors Gerald Anderson and Coco Martin.

“I’ve met Chiz only once,” clarified Kris, “and that was in June when Noy was proclaimed (15th President of the Philippines) at the Batasan. It was Noy pa nga who told me, ‘Kris, mag-hello ka kay Chiz’, so I said, ‘Hello, Chiz! Thank you for supporting Noy during the campaign.’ And we made a joke pa that in 2016 kaming dalawa naman ang magta-tandem at ang magiging slogan naming ay ‘Chizzy Krissy.’ Nice, di ba? Hahahahaha! That was the first and last time that I saw Chiz.”

Despite the rumor that his own marriage to Tintin Escudero is “troubled” (tsismis lang, the truth is that their marriage is intact and is as strong as ever), Chiz remains unaffected by the rumors linking him to Kris. I requested Bibeth Orteza (who directed Chiz in the Noy-Bi TV plug that reportedly clinched the vice presidency for Jojo Binay) and Bibeth texted this short message: Chiz says that if he says “no comment” parang people will read into it pa. On the other hand daw, he can’t talk about what there’s nothing to talk about.

“I know who’s spreading that rumor. Tita Dolor (Guevarra, talent manager) told me who.”

What about Coco Martin?

“Naku, nakakaloka! Good luck to Coco! Kaya sasabihin ko na, nililigawan ni Coco si Erich (Gonzales).”

And Gerald Anderson?

“Gerald and Kim (Chiu, his ‘special friend’) are like my younger brother and younger sister. Kim and I are so close. I told Kim na sa lahat ng situwasyon ng buhay niya, I’ll always be there to defend her. Kaya tigilan na ‘yang pagli-link sa akin kay Gerald. That really makes no sense.”

Who else?

“Si Junjun Binay. Also not true. Ang daming nali-link sa akin. Ang haba-haba ng buhok ko! Hahahahaha!”

So can you say categorically that you are putting your love life “on hold” for the meantime (while the nullity case is pending)?

“You know, nakiusap ang mga kapatid ko, please lang, kung kaya ko raw in the next six years huwag ako mag-boyfriend. Maawa naman daw ako P-Noy.”

What did you tell them?

“I said, ‘Bahala na!’ Sa track record ko naman, wala talaga sa tadhana ko, di ba? Parang hindi ‘yon ang suwerte ng buhay ko. But thank you for acknowledging that good mommy ako, even if I’m not a good wife. At least nag-enjoy talaga ang mga anak ko. After the cruise, we went to Boston where I showed my kids the house where we lived during my dad’s exile.”

Incidentally, in fairness to James who has remained tight-lipped up to now, he said that he didn’t believe the rumors linking Kris to other men while at the same time denying those linking him to other women, one of them the GMA show Diz Iz It co-host Grace Lee who has denied it.

“Hindi ganoon ang asawa ko,” insisted James whose present routine revolves around his practice for the ongoing games --- you know, from house to practice, then back to the house (he’s temporarily staying at a condo in Ortigas Center after he left his and Kris’ conjugal home in Makati City).

Asked if she has heard about James being linked to Grace (a Korean who was raised and studied here), Kris was nonchalant.

“I don’t really care. N’ung kinuwento sa akin na may Koreanang natsitsismis sa kanya, honest to God, you know what my reaction was? Thank God! At least, we can now all move on. At hindi na ako ‘yung wicked witch!”

As Kris has been saying, there’s indeed no turning back!

Sarah Geronimo provincial tour schedule

After touring the US for a series of concerts and finishing the currently-showing movie, Hating Kapatid (grossed P10-M on its first day last week), Sarah Geronimo will get even closer to fans all over the country some more with her upcoming Record Breaker Philippine Tour.

Talented young singer Charlie Green, who made waves when he appeared in Britain’s Got Talent, is Sarah’s special guest.

Showtime New Segments

Exciting changes and new segments were introduced on second season of ABS-CBN’s top-rating talent variety show.

Pagkatapos ng matagumpay na grand finals noong Sabado (Hulyo 24), dumiretso sa ikalawang season ang programa nina Vhong Navarro, Anne Curtis, Kim Atienza, Vice Ganda, Jugs at Teddy noong Lunes (Hulyo 26) dala ang mga bagong pakulong siguradong papatok sa manonood.

Sa mas pinasaya at mas pinaaliw na “Showtime,” mga grupong iisa ang kasarian na may walo hanggang 15 miyembro ang maaaring sumali at magpasikat. At kung dati ay binigyan ng kapangyarihan ang Madlang Pipol na magtanggal ng hurado, ngayon naman ay maaari na rin silang maging hurado kasama ni Vice Ganda.

Jovit Baldivino ‘Faithfully’ Album Tops Nationwide OPM Sales at Odyssey Music Store ·

The debut album of Pilipinas Got Talent grand winner Jovit Baldivino titled “Faithfully,” has topped the OPM nationwide sales of music store Odyssey Records.

Figures from Odyssey Records showed that “Faithfully” ranked No. 1 under the OPM category.

The 16-year-old singer’s album has 5 tracks and it features 2 original compositions – “Paano” and “I’ll Be The One.” The three other tracks – “Faithfully,” “Too Much Love Will Kill You,” and “Always” are revivals of his favorite hits.

“Too Much Love Will Kill You” is currently climbing the OPM charts of various radio stations nationwide.

NGAYONG nalalapit na ang showing ng In Your Eyes nina Claudine Barretto, Anne Curtis at Richard Gutierrez, mas kinakabahan na ang tatlo sa po-sibleng reception ng mga tao lalo pa't ‘usapang kapatid’ din ang gist ng pelikula nila.

Big hit nga ang Juday Santos-Sarah Geronimo starrer at turn naman nina Claudine at Anne ngayong August 18.

"Sa palagay naman na-min ay nakagawa kami ng matino at magandang peli-kula. What is more exciting ay ‘yong ganda ng locations sa USA na big part talaga ng movie," saad ni Claudine na four years ago pa huling na-panood sa wide screen.

Bilang mas nauna kina Anne at Richard, at matata-wag na mas beterana pagda-ting sa lawak ng karanasan sa pag-arte, hindi naging maramot si Claudine na magbi-gay ng tips at payo kina Anne at Chard.

"Pero parang mas magagaling pa nga sila dahil ang dali-dali nilang matuto at maka-relate sa karakter nila. In Your Eyes will be among my personal favorites dahil iba"ang ginawa ko rito at iba rin ang ginawa sa akin dito ni Direk Mac (Alejandre)," dagdag pa ni Claudine.

Of course, nire-refer dito ng drama queen ang love scene niya with Richard.
Abangan din daw natin ang 'kakaibang accent' dito ni Clau na kumuha pa ng coach para lang masiguro na magamit at makuha niya nang tama ang ‘California accent.’

ABS-CBN, naloka sa demand letter ni Willie!

AMINADO si Pokwang na talagang kinakabahan siya kung siya ba ay matatanggal o mare-retain pagbalik ni Willie Revillame sa Wowowee.

"Para kaming nangangapa sa dilim, sa totoo lang. As in bahala na si Batman. Pero ngayon, nakahinga na talaga ako nang maluwag!"

Wala na ang Wowowee at ang kapalit na nito'y ang Pilipinas Win na Win.

Sina Kris Aquino at Robin Padilla na nga ang main hosts at sina Mariel Rodriguez, Pokwang at Valerie Concepcion ang co-hosts. Si RR Enriquez, ba't tila hindi kasama sa line-up?

"Ewan ko, kasi, ang alam ko, nakabili na siya ng ticket papuntang U.S. for one month, eh. Bakasyon niya," info ni Pokwang.

"I'm sure," patuloy pa ng aming source, "sasabihin, dahil nanalo si Noynoy, kaya siya na ang noontime queen at si Willie, eh, lost ang pambatong si Villar!

"Hindi gano'n 'yon. Sina Robin at Kris ay kapuwa advertiser-friendly. Ang dami rin nilang commercials, kaya we are so sure na hindi lang naman si Willie ang mahal ng masa at ng mga advertiser.

"Saka ang daming e-mails na nakukuha ang management mula nu'ng kumalat na babalik na siya sa July 31. Ayaw ng mga tao, grabe! Ang bottomline pa rin is kagandahang-asal sa harap ng kamera na nakalimutan ni Willie."

SARAH Geronimo the sleep addict,had a truly happy birthday last Sunday since her film with Judy Ann Santos, “Hating Kapatid,” is a box office hit. “Nakakatuwa talaga kasi kahit maulan, marami pa ring nanood sa amin,” she says.

She said earlier that she wants more independence now that she’s 22. Does that mean she’d be more attentive to affairs of the heart? “Naku, love life na naman, puwede ba, let’s just set that aside? When I say I want more freedom, it’s in terms of decision-making when it comes to my career. Mas gusto kong matutunan kung paano dadalhin ang sarili kong career. Balak kong bumili ng Grandia which is a bigger vehicle para naman I’d be more comfortable when I do out of town shows. Kasi ang luxury ko in life is sleeping kaya at least makakatulog ako nang maayos kahit na nagbibiyahe ako for my next job.”

The guy touted to have broken her heart, Rayver Cruz, also turned a year older on July 20, any message for him? “Naku, tama na 'yang ganyang message-message. No comment na lang.”

ABS-CBN, Willie Revillame talks collapse

AFTER a failed negotiation with Willie Revillame, ABS-CBN is now allegedly toying with the idea of axing Wowowee and replacing it with a new game show to be hosted by Kris Aquino.

Willie reportedly made demands, some of which were not amenable to ABS-CBN management. ABS-CBN strove to make some bargains which were refused by Willie.

Chances are, should Kris agree, she would not only replace Willie but the entire show with her own.

With matters more likely going Kris’ way but given the fact that many things could still happen in the next few days, would ABS-CBN end up axing Wowowee?

Angelica Panganiban ipinagtanggol ni Diether

Ayon kay Diether Ocampo, hindi raw totoo ang mga napapabalitang sakit ng ulo si Angelica Panganiban sa set ng Rubi.

“Hindi totoo ’yan, ako na ang nagsasabi sa inyo, matagal ko na siyang katra-baho, siya ang pinakama-gaan na nakatrabaho ko. Wala akong naging kaprob-le-problema (sa kanya) pagdating sa trabaho. Mas alam niya nga kasi nauna sa akin sa industriya ’yan. Bata pa lang siya, Ang TV (show) pa lang, artista na siya, so alam niya kung paano pahalagahan ang trabaho,” pagdedepensa ni Diet kay Rubi.

So, hindi totoo ang tsismis na nag-iinarte si Angelica sa set?

“Hindi! Ako mismo, I can vouch for that, nagkasama kami sa IIsa Pa Lamang, hanggang sa Rubi, eh, halos dalawang season ang itinakbo ng Rubi, eh, kaya ako, ang masasabi ko sa inyo, hindi ako makapagsasabi ng kahit anong pangit sa kanya dahil wala akong masasabi sa kanya kungdi puro papuri dahil napakagaling, of course, pagdating sa alindog, mayroon pa bang tatalo dyan?”

Last three weeks na lang ang serye at ayon kay Diet ay marami pa raw maiinit na eksena ang makikita ng televiewers.

“May mga revelations na mangyayari, ’yung karakter ko, ni Rubi, si Alejandro (Jake Cuenca) saka si Maribel (Shaina Magdayao), medyo intensed na talaga ang mga eksena namin. Lalo na ’yung final week, ako na nagsasabi sa inyo. Trinabaho talaga namin ang final week, medyo nahirapan talaga kami, medyo mabigat ang mga eksena, emotionally mabigat.”

KC Concepcion Speaks Up

Piolo Pascual released his official statement in response to write-ups and reports claiming that his son Iñigo supposedly badmouthed KC Concepcion—rumored to be Piolo’s girlfriend—through the kid’s social network accounts and a text message. Piolo said that it is not fair to accuse his son of these acts because he does not have a Twitter account, his Facebook account was hacked and that he never texted anything bad about KC. The actor also warned that he will consider taking legal action against culprits spreading the wrong information.

KC, on the other hand, aired her side on The Buzz yesterday and became very emotional about it. “I know that PJ (Piolo’s nickname) is a very good father,” began Sharon Cuneta’s daughter. “Ginagawa niya ang lahat to be the man that his son needs kasi lumaki si PJ na walang tatay. So gusto ni Piolo na maging mabuting ama sa anak niya.”

The host-actress explained that there is no confirmation yet that it was really Iñigo who sent the malicious message but she knows where the kid is coming from, regardless if he’s at fault or not. “Naiintindihan ko si Iñigo kung siya talaga ‘yon dahil ako ‘yung batang yun, eh. Nung bata ako, ako ‘yung nasa lugar niya,” said KC. “Siyempre mahirap na mahal mo ‘yung magulang mo, mahirap ‘yung makitang magkahiwalay sila. Mahirap ding i-accept kung sino man ‘yung napapalapit sa magulang mo. I hope it’s not him dahil hindi ako naniniwalang kayang magsalita ng anak ni Piolo Pascual ‘yon, mabuting ama naman si Piolo.”

KC added that the victims of this issue are her and Iñigo and Piolo has to face both parties who are dear to his heart. “Bottom line diyan, isa lang ang hinahanap ng isang anak sa tatay niya at isa lang ang hinahanap ng babaeng pinalapit mo sa ‘yo, ‘yun ay ang ipaglaban ka, ‘yun ay ang panindigan ka at ipakita sa ‘yo at iparamdam sa ‘yo na mahal ka niya.” Although she also admitted that she was deeply hurt by the words that supposedly came from Iñigo, KC pleaded to the detractors not to ruin Piolo’s relationship with his son.

Marielle Corpuz Filipino WCOPA champion 2010

The Philippines has done it again. Following in the footsteps of Jed Madela, Marielle Corpuz was proclaimed this year’s Pinoy World Champion Performer.

Marielle (with the help of Marissa Sanchez) joined the Philippine team in 2008 (through the help of Marissa Sanchez) but lost to Jamaica’s Andrew Clark.

This year, she competed against vocal champions from Belaruz, Russia and Sweden. Marielle’s winning piece was What Kind Of Fool Am I. Another Pinay, Kaye Miranda who sang Papa Can You Hear Me, made it to the finals.

In the junior division, young vocalist Little Big Star finalist Mycah Torre, competed with another Pinoy resident of New York City representing the US Leiana Sta. Ana who won the Junior World Champion title top prize.

On its 14th year The World Championships of the Performing Arts is the only known Talent Olympics recognized worldwide and is held at the Westin Bonaventure, Los Angeles, California.

This year’s trip of the WCOPA Team Philippines was made possible through the help of the newest Philippine National Director Kitchie Benedicto and in part by the Former Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Nang gawin nina Gabby at KC Concepcion ang I’ll Be There sa Star Cinema, pumasok agad sa isip ko na Gabby-Sharon movie ang kanilang next project at kapag natuloy ito, posible nang mag­sama sa pelikula ang tatlo.

Magkakaroon nga ng Gabby-Sharon movie at ito ang announcement kahapon ni Sharon sa press­con ng Mega Drama, ang major concert niya sa Araneta Coliseum sa August 7.

Sa nalalapit na pagbabalik ni Willie Revillame sa telebisyon, inaabangan na ng lahat ang TV host kahit sabihin pang usap-usapan pa lamang ang tungkol sa bagay na ito. Nitong mga nakaraang araw, puro positibong mga balita na aming naririnig tungkol sa pagbabalik ni Willie sa Wowowee sa July 31.

In fairness, may date na nga, ’di ba?

Ayon naman sa aming source, positibo raw ang naging pag-usap ni Willie at ng management ng Dos last week. Ito na marahil ang senyales na anytime soon, babalik na nga si Willie sa Dos.

Showtime grand champion, malalaman na

Sunud-sunod ang malalaking pasabog sa Show­time habang papalapit ang kauna-unahang grand finals nito ngayong Sabado (Hulyo 24) sa Ynares Sports Center, Antipolo City at ang inaa­ba­ngang ikalawang season nito sa darating na Lunes (Hulyo 26).

Noong nakaraang linggo ay inanunsiyo ang wild card round o second chance para sa mga gru­pong hindi pinalad makarating ng finals. Ginulat naman ang mga hosts ng programa na sina Vhong Navarro, Anne Curtis, at Kuya Kim Atienza nitong Lunes (Hulyo 19) nang ipaalam sa kanila na magiging hurado sila tulad ni Vice Gan­­­da sa buong wild card week.

JC at Luis, may iringan?

Naiintriga ngayon ang leading men ng Hating Kapatid na sina Luis Manzano at JC de Vera dahil may isyung hindi raw binabanggit ng una ang pangalan ng huli kapag nagpo-promote ito sa mga show niya sa ABS-CBN.

Ang katwiran umano ni Luis, hindi nakalagay ang pangalan ni JC sa binabasa niya.

Nang makausap namin si JC, kinunan namin siya ng reaksyon tungkol dito at ayon sa young actor, hindi rason ’yon.

“Kasi ako, nagpa-plug ako sa TV5 na walang binabasa. Lahat naman (ng cast), nababanggit ko. “Pero ’yung sa akin naman, if ever na hindi talaga nababanggit ang pangalan ko, hindi naman importante sa akin ’yun, bayad naman ako, eh.

“Parang ganu’n lang din naman sa akin ’yon, eh. As long as ginawa ko ang trabaho ko nang maayos, nabayaran din naman ako nang maayos. ’Yung mga billing, ’yung mga pagdating sa promotion na ganu’n, wala naman po sa akin talaga, eh. Parang waste of time lang kung gagalitin mo lang ang sarili mo,” pahayag ni JC.

Wala naman daw talagang intriga sa pagitan nila ni Luis dahil okay sila although sa shooting, hindi sila masyadong nagka-eksena together.

“Okay naman kaming dalawa, although hindi nga kami masyadong nagkasama, siguro bilang na bilang, three times lang siguro kaming nagkasama sa eksena. So, wala naman, okay naman kami, eh.”

Aminado siyang hindi siya nagkaroon ng time na mag-bonding pati na sa ibang artista dahil sa set, tahimik lang siya.

“May sarili akong mundo ru’n sa shooting, eh, kasi everytime na magsu-shooting ako, galing ako sa isang taping, eh, kaya medyo puyat din ako, eh.

“May sariling mundo ako, nandu’n ako, tulog lang, tapos kapag may eksena, du’n ko lang sila nakikita,” JC said.

Samantala, masaya ang aktor na nakasama siya sa movie at naging leading man ni Judy Ann Santos. Finally, natuloy na rin na magkasama sila dahil matatandaang hindi siya natuloy sa seryeng Habang May Buhay dahil that time, nasa Siyete pa siya.

Ayon sa young actor, malaking karangalan na mapasama sa pelikulang ito. Para sa kanya, one step higher sa career niya ang makasama si Juday.

“Isang experience ito na talagang very memorable for me dahil hindi lahat ng mga kasabay ko sa showbiz, may chance na makasama si Juday. Kumbaga, nakaisa ako sa kanila, kaya very happy ako and very grateful,” pahayag pa ni JC.

When Martin & Gary sing, dance and laugh again

Back by popular demand to celebrate over a quarter of a century worth of hits, certainly there was no stopping Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano in delivering entertainment to the max to a full house audience last July 16 at the Araneta Coliseum for AS 1 (The Repeat). Andre Alvarez, head of MYX Channel posted on his Facebook account,”Martin Nievera was a riot with his witty remarks while Gary Valenciano tirelessly danced up a storm all night. It was a joy to see two music icons singing and dancing together.”

Martin chanced upon Christian Bautista who was in the audience and shared the mic for the song Say That You Love Me. In an interview, Christian said, “Gary and Martin sang all their hits and each number was well-thought of and so well-produced... lahat na talaga ginawa nila. It’s no wonder they still rule the concert scene.”

To the surprise of many, ‘80s songstress Joey Albert was spotted, too. Martin approached her for the song You Are My Song. Aiza Seguerra also jammed with I’ll Be There For You.

Funny moments like Gary teaching Martin to scat, Martin singing Gary’s songs and vice-versa, brought freshness to their act. Complementing each other all night, Martin mixed music and laughter while Gary showcased himself as the ultimate song-and-dance man.

Interestingly, not only did we see Gary and Martin on stage, we also saw (probably for the first time together) their musical directors who have been with them all these years, Mon Faustino and Louie Ocampo are the geniuses behind the two stars’ careers.

Leonardo DiCaprio Date of Philippine Visit -- a Secret?

Henceforth, there’ll be a news blackout on the forthcoming visit of Leonardo DiCaprio not to promote his movie Inception (currently showing nationwide) but for his pro-environment advocacy.

DiCaprio’s US reps have instructed the publicist and project director of the project to keep all things under wraps and keep details of his visit confidential. This is “so the actor will not be disturbed during his holiday at an ultra-luxurious island resort” (in Albay) by a possible media circus.

According to the publicist, DiCaprio’s trip, originally set for next month, has been moved by a few months because his reps were alarmed by the recent typhoon (Basyang) that hit Luzon.

More tidbits courtesy of the publicist:

• The actor is interested to purchase his own personal estate at the island (complete with his own beach and villa) so he can do a private visit often away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi that hounds him in other commercial vacation spots.

Akihiro Sato Sexy Talk with Ricky Lo

Coffee, tea or me?

If ever Akihiro Sato popped that question to a woman, I’m sure she would promptly answer this way: “Akihiro Sato and then a cup of steaming hot coffee (black, please!) or plain hot tea (no lemon nor syrup, please!).”

“I haven’t asked any woman that question yet,” admitted Akihiro, 26 (on Sept. 12), the six-footer half-Brazilian/half-Japanese model-turned-actor who wears large-size shirt, size-34 briefs and size-11 shoes.

But if ever he did, I guess Akihiro would offer neither himself nor tea (hot or ice-cold) but a cup of Seattle’s Best coffee which he’s currently endorsing.

“It keeps me alive and awake especially if I have an overnight shoot,” said Akihiro who loves Mexican food (“The more spicy the better”), snacks on French Fries and peanuts, usually takes only salads for dinner, and sleeps only in his underwear “and nothing else” since he sleeps alone, or in the nude “but only when I’m with a girl.”

In the next six weeks, Akihiro will disappear from the local showbiz scene, as he does when he has to hie off to his native Brazil for a breather from his increasing workload, but this time he’s mum on where he’s going. Here’s a clue: When asked in a previous interview what his favorite hideaway is, Akihiro said, “The beach where I can go surfing, like Baler in Quezon which is perfect for surfing. I want to go to Siargao which is very famous in Brazil because of the World Surfing Competition that was held there.”

Other places that Akihiro said he loves include Hong Kong although he’d go there for vacation and not to stay, and Bangkok which is like a second home to him because he has worked there as a model.

“But I love the Philippines the most,” he qualified, “because it’s very much like Brazil. The weather is the same and so is the temperament of the people who are very friendly like Brazilians.”

Before Akihiro flew to wherever he’s “hiding” in the next six weeks, Funfare did a “sexy talk” with him.

“What do I find sexy?” he asked. “Kindness is sexy to me. Sexiness is not at all limited to the physical.”

And what makes him feel sexy?

“Dressing well.”

You won’t believe how he answered to the question of how he lost his innocence.

“I’m still innocent,” followed by a sexy-innocent laughter. “I will always be innocent,” resounding with more laughter.

He named Alessandra Ambrosio, Cameron Diaz and Eva Mendes as the three women he considered sexiest and added that the qualities he wants in a girl are that she must be “sexy, nice, intelligent, simple and funny,” hastening to add that he doesn’t have a girlfriend (by choice), “not at the moment because I’m busy focusing on my career.”

Relasyon nina Gerald at Bea, tanggap ni Kim!

Sa presscon ng Cherry Mobile kahapon ay natanong si Kim Chiu kung bakit ayaw tumigil ng balitang break na sila ni Gerald Anderson at katwiran ng young actress, siguro raw ay dahil natapos na ang Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo at hindi na sila nakikitang magkasama ng mga tao.

Kahit naman daw wala silang serye ngayon ay may communications pa rin sila at lagi pa rin silang magkasama sa mga shows and commercials.

“Hanggang October po kasi, mayroon kaming mga out-of-the-country shows. Buwan-buwan, mayroon kaming labas for two weeks, ganyan.”

Baka nga raw tatapusin muna itong mga shows na ito kaya hindi muna sila makikitang magkasama sa isang teleserye.

Wala ring idea si Kim kung pagpapahingahin muna ang loveteam nila ni Gerald. Basta raw may bago siyang project na hindi kasama si Gerald, ang Your Song Presents kung saan ay si Ai-Ai delas Alas ang kasama niya at dalawang baguhan.

Open naman daw siya sa ideyang bigyan sila ng ibang kapareha at sana raw ay suportahan pa rin sila ng mga fans nila kahit iba na ang kapartner nila.

Tinanong din si Kim kung ano ang masasabi niya na nali-link ngayon si Gerald kay Bea Alonzo.

“Hindi ko po alam, nali-link ba sila?” tanong niya.

Marami ang sumagot na oo at may nakita na ngang nagdi-date ang dalawa.

Yeng Constantino di lapitin ng lalaki

SOBRA ang ipinagbago ng bahay ni Yeng Constantino, who won the title grand winner in the first Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA). And, this would you believe, only three years ago.

Then, she was just a soloist of a band called Morning Glory na kanyang itinatag din.

Ang pagsikat niya and, no doubt, pag-earn ng more than enough, ay hindi naging dahilan para wika nga, i-itsapuwera na ang mga member ng kanyang banda kasabay ng pag-disband nito.

The band remains her accompanist tuwing may gigs siya. At kahit na sa kanyang programang Music Uplate Live.

Ayon kay Yeng, kapag ’di niya kailangan ang grupo, may kanya-kanya ang mga itong “pinagkakaabalahan.”

Yeng considers her hosting the most midnight show, Music Uplate Live on ABS CBN, a new milestone sa kanyang buhay-showbiz.

“We had her in mind when we conceptualized the show,” ani Annabelle Regalado, head ng Star Records and the “power” behind Music Uplate Live.

“Yes, as its host,” dagdag pa ni Annabelle.

In the first few editions of the show, may ibang male co-host si Yeng. It was later that he was pined by Tutti Caringal of the 6 Cyclemind.

Their tandem clicked.

Now on its second season, Music Uplate Live is, no doubt, a big success. No doubt that Music Uplate Live barkada is getting big as well.

And, no doubt, again, better.

We agree with Annabelle, Nixon and Martin, all three behind the success of MUL, that late, late-night viewing was never the same since the inception of this show.

A combination of live music, games and a whole lot real-time interactivities, kasama, ayon kina Yeng at Tutti, ang kanilang kapuwa mga “kapuyaters,” new words for mga nagpupuyat, they experience a high everytime nagsisimula na ang show.

The two are amazed sa mga daan-daang respondents sa Live Text React and Social Biteworking sites, which is a special part of the show.

MUL has become a favorite hangout na for gig spot on TV. So far, those who have performed in the show are Noel Cabangon, Jericho Rosales, Raymund Marasigan, Marco Sison at ang mga bandang tulad ng Itchyworms, 6Cyclemind, Side A at Freestyle.

Ang pinakabagong segment na aabangan sa show ay ang pag-launch ng Ka-Jock at Kapuyater Jock, a host search and more singers and musicians to be discovered for Break Me ’To Night.

Abogado ni Kris Aquino, ignorante?

SABI ng lawyer ni Kris Aquino, hihilingin daw nila sa korte na hindi legal separation, tulad ng nauna nilang sinabi, kungdi “declaration of nullity” lamang.

At natawa kami sa sinabi niyang hindi ito annulment.

Mukhang confused ang abogado ni Kris sa gusto nilang hingin sa korte para sa kapatid ni President Noynoy. Kasi ang annulment, ito ay isang deklarasyon na ang kasal, bagaman isinagawa nga ay walang bisa sa simula’t simula.

Habang ang declaration of nullity, sinasabi mong sa simula’t simula ay wala itong bisa.

Mukhang ang akala yata ng abogado ni Kris, ang annulment ay kagaya ng divorce, na ang kasal na valid ay pinawawalang-bisa.

Hindi rin naman niya na-ipaliwanag sa kanyang statement kung bakit nasabi ni-yang ang kasal ni Kris kay James Yap ay walang bisa sa simula’t simula.

Kung iyon ay walang bisa sa simula pa lang, sino ang may kagagawan para mangyari ang kasal na iyon na wala palang bisa?

Sarah Geronimo Updates

EVEN though she was crowned box-office queen twice in a row due to her movies opposite John Lloyd Cruz, Sarah Geronimo is not so keen on doing a third installment.

“Don’t get me wrong please,” she says. “It doesn’t mean I don’t want to do a project with Lloydie again. But I am under pressure with the thought that the first two films are certified blockbusters with a combined earning of P210 million. What if the third movie falls short of expectations?”

“Anyway, it’s still in the planning stage. There’s still enough time to decide since nothing is final yet with regard to that. Viva hasn’t given me a word yet although it was discussed to us before that a third movie is possible. It’s just that I believe it’ll be a tough act to follow.”

Speaking of John Lloyd, what’s her reaction regarding his admission of his current relationship with Shaina Magdayao?

“I think that’s admirable on his part. Being a girl myself, I would feel slighted and hurt if I’ll get denied by my boyfriend. John Lloyd did just right. It’s a clear proof that he’s proud of Shaina,” Sarah said.

Meanwhile, after “Hating Kapatid” opposite Judy Ann Santos, Sarah will be busy with her new soap for ABS-CBN 2. It is a musical and is inspired by the hit American show, “Glee.”

“I’m so excited with this project,” she says. “Actually, they’ve started taping already when I was in the States for my concert series. I was able to tape just once. This is something new for me. I’m sure the viewers will like it.”

Sarah will be with Sam Milby in the new show.

“I’ve done a scene with him during my initial taping,” Sarah reveals. “Based on the reaction of people on the set, I think we have screen chemistry.”

Is she ready to be linked to Sam?

“It’s expected. He’s so handsome. But I would rather reserve that ‘kilig’ factor for my character in the program. As I always say, at this point, love is not my priority. I still have lots of dreams to fulfill not just for myself but my family as well.”

How Piolo can tell if 'it's time'

People might think that somebody with the stature of actor and dreamboat Piolo Pascual is not at all worried about the future, given his lucrative showbiz career.

“Out of 100 Filipinos, 90 percent have little or no savings. Out of 100 Filipinos who get sick, 95 percent sacrifice their savings. Out of 100 Filipino children, only 10 percent graduate from College because they don’t have the funds. Out of 100 Filipinos aged 65, 45 percent are dependent on relatives,” Martin cited.

By these statistics alone, one could already recognize the need to save and manage one’s finances, he said.

Meanwhile, Piolo said that even though he is already financially secured, he still continues to “invest and save on things that matter in the future.”

“ I keep on saving up, so I can continue to be confident about my and my family’s future. It’s time to create the life we always want to live, No place like the present to start. Again, it’s time,” Piolo said.

He recounted that it was his mother who taught him to value money and save for a rainy day.

“My mother showed me the best attitude towards money, which is humility. She also taught me to use money to do good things. My faith also gave me a great foothold on my finances. Much has been given to me and it is only right that I give something in return. To whom much is given, much is also expected,” he said.

Piolo also said that even if he can afford it, he is not wont to spend on things he doesn’t need.

“I am very practical with the things I buy. I never spend beyond my means. After a long and tiring day, I splurge on food. But that’s it. My happiness does not rely on the things that I have. We never know the lemons that life may throw our way,” Piolo said.

And if anything, Piolo wants to put his money on noble things, like charities or humanitarian activities, not material things.

He also said he wants to retire early in showbiz.

“Even before I entered the entertainment industry, I see myself retiring at a young age. It may be a change of career, or doing other things that I have always wanted to pursue. For instance, I want my own business someday. It is so exciting to think about the future if you’re protected and secured,” he said.

“ In five years, I see myself being married. I want to see my kids grow up and I want to be beside my wife through thick and thin. We are not going to be young forever, so I am saving and investing for that chapter in my life. I want to protect their dreams, so I have to be ready for anything.

Noah Debuts at No. 1 Nationwide

The pilot episode of Noah, ABS-CBN’s newest primetime series starring Piolo Pascual and Zaijan Jaranilla, premiered as the most-watched program yesterday, July 12, in Kantar Media’s national tv ratings.

The fantaserye registered a pilot rating of 39.9 percent nationwide nudging previous top-rater, Agua Bendita, down to no. 2 with 34.6 percent.

On the other hand, the newest installment to Precious Hearts Romances entitled Midnight Phantom also scored on its pilot episode. The Rafael Rosell-Denise Laurel starrer got 12.9% againts its rival, Hole in the Wall, which only received 10.9 percent.

Robin Padilla tinanggihan ang Wowowee hosting

Formal na palang tinanggihan ni Robin Padilla ang offer ng ABS-CBN na maging regular host ng Wowowee. Meaning, ayaw niyang kumita ng malaking datung tulad ni Willie Revillame.

Heto ang text message na natanggap ko kahapon :

“In a letter dated July 12, 2010, Mr. Robin Padilla formally notified ABS-CBN of his decision to decline the Network’s earlier offer for him to host its Wowowee noontime show. Mr. Padilla cited his personal values and beliefs as the reasons for his said decision.”

Kung sabagay, kawalan ito ni Robin, hindi naman ng ABS-CBN.

Ang daming ibang puwedeng mag-host ng nasabing programa na kahit wala ang original host na si Revillame ay wala namang nagbago sa rating. Mas tumaas pa nga kaya hindi na talaga siya naiisip ng mga televiewers.

Napatunayan sa pagkawala ni Revillame na hindi siya ang hanap ng tao, kundi ang laman ng programa.

Marami ring nagbubunyi ngayon na balitang hindi na ito babalik sa programa though may ilang mga kaanib niya ang nagkakalat ng impormasyon na kesyo babalik siya sa July 31 na kontra sa balitang naghakot na ng gamit ang TV host sa ABS-CBN.

Robin Padilla tuluyang papalitan si Willie

From a very reliable source, we learned na nagpunta raw ang dalawang executive ng Kapamilya network sa bahay ni Willie Revillame last week para pag-usapan ang tungkol sa Wowowee.

Kung anuman ang detalye ng napag-usapan, hindi na sinabi pa ng aming source pero mukhang malabo na raw talagang makabalik pa si Willie sa Wowowee.

May isang insider din na nagbalita sa amin na kino-consider umano talaga ng management si Robin Padilla para maging host, pero totally ay iibahin daw ang programa at hindi na Wowowee.

So far, wala pa namang official announcement ang management tungkol dito at ang huli nilang statement two weeks ago, wala pa raw definite na desisyon at kung sakaling meron ay ia-anunsyo naman nila.

Well, ang lahat ay sabik na sabik nang malaman kung ano ba talaga ang mangyayari sa show.

Lovelife ni Sarah, buking ni Juday!

MAgdiriwang si Sarah Geronimo ng kanyang 22nd b-day on July 25 at kung meron siyang gustong bilhin para sa sarili niya, ito raw ay bagong sasakyan.

“Para po magkasya ’yung mga gamit, kasi, medyo maliit na ’yung ginagamit ko,” say niya nang makatsikahan namin sa presscon ng Hating Kapatid na unang pagsasama nila ni Judy Ann Santos.

Ang birthday wish naman daw niya ay happiness at magandang buhay para sa kanyang pamilya.

Nabanggit ni Juday sa presscon na nagko-confide sa kanya si Sarah when it comes to her love life kaya natanong si Sarah kung hindi ba siya nagko-confide sa kanyang ina.

“Si Mama, alam niya kahit hindi ako mag-confide sa kanya,” nakangiti niyang sabi.

“Si Mama naman kasi, ah... may mga bagay kasi na bilang dalaga, nahihiya ka or nahihirapan kang sabihin sa nanay mo. And I think that’s normal. Pero sabi ko nga, mas na-appreciate ko ‘yung pagiging protective niya ngayon at saka ng mga kapatid ko.”

Natanong din si Sarah kung may plano ba siyang mag-solo or mamuhay independently lalo na nga’t of age na rin siya at say niya, parang hindi raw niya ma-imagine ang sarili na namumuhay nang sarili at magsolo sa isang condo unit halimbawa.

“Hindi ko pa kaya, eh, parang marami pa akong kailangang pagdaanan para dumating sa estado na talagang independent ka na. Hopefully, unti-unti ’yan, matutunan ko ’yang mga ganyan.”

Si Sarah ay kilala rin bilang masunurin at mabait na anak kaya naman isa rin ito sa dahilan kung bakit pinagpapala siya ng Diyos at binibigyan ng maraming blessings.

Akting ni Rafael Rosell nilait ni Direk Cathy

Parang papatak ang luha ni Rafael Rosell sa rebelasyon ni Direk Cathy Molina-Garcia na ayaw niya sa aktor noong unang malaman niyang to ang magiging bidang aktor sa PHR Pre­sents Martha Cecilia’s Midnight Phantom!

Say ni Direk Cathy, talagang ayaw niya kay Rafael dahil hindi ito marunong umarte. Kaya natuwa pa raw si Direk nang pansaman­talang na-freezed ang project. Pero after several months, nag-resume ang taping. Pero nagu­lantang na naman si Direk Cathy na si Rafa­el pa rin ang bidang aktor. Ang buong akala niya eh napalitan na ang aktor dahil hindi nga raw siya naga­galingan dito. Pero walang nagawa si Direk Cathy, dahil si Rafael daw talaga ang naka-assign na nasabing episode ng Precious Hearts Romance sagot ng production sa direktora.

At dahil wala siyang nagawa, nagtrabaho sila. At habang nagta-trabaho sila, doon niya nadiskubre na gumaling na ito bilang aktor.

Baga­ma’t ilang beses nang itinampok sa mga PHR series tulad ng Bud Brothers, You’re Mine Only Mine at Substitute Bride, kung saan may kanya-kanya silang ka-loveteam, ang Midnight Phantom ang kauna-unahang TV drama series nina Rafael at Denise bilang onscreen tandem, isang tambalang matagal nang hinihintay ng mga tagasuporta ng dalawa.

Tungkol ito sa isang misteryosong radio DJ na si Brandon (Rafael) na mas kilala sa publiko bilang si Midnight Phantom. Tampok sa istorya ang kanyang madilim na nakaraan at ang kasalukuyan niyang puno ng misteryo. Nang tanungin tungkol sa kanilang mga characters, maraming patikim tungkol sa istorya ang naibahagi nina Denise at Rafael. “Si Brandon ay sampung taong na-depress. Meron siyang malaking scar sa mukha na nagpapa­alala ng kanyang madilim na nakaraan. Chal­lenging ‘yung role kasi Brandon’s character is rough pero hindi bastos. He’s careless and full of mystery. And as Rafael, hindi ako ganun. Masayahin akong tao at very active. Kaya on-set kailangan ko i- adjust ang mood and character ko to Brandon,” ani Rafael.

Medyo nakaka-relate naman si Denise sa role niya na si Nadja. “We’re both very malam­bing. But unlike Nadja who is naïve and well-protected, I grew up strong and very independent.”

Kuwento pa ni Denise, naging madali para sa kanyang mahalin ang character niya dahil na rin sa tulong ni Raf. “Raf and I, we grew up as buddies since Ang TV days. At first, it was difficult to look at him as a leading man, and him to look at me as a leading lady since we knew each other for a long, long time. But it’s also because of that why we clicked. We work together as a loveteam. So we help each other out in days na puyat kami. We always guarded each other.”

Magsisimula itong mapanood sa July 12, 5:25 pm, bago ang Momay sa ABS-CBN.

‘Hating Kapatid,’ huling pelikula na ni Judy Ann Santos

Judy Ann Santos is enjoying her pregnancy to the max dahil siyempre, matagal na niya itong hinintay at napakarami raw na nagpe-pray for her at nagwi-wish for her na maging magaan ang kanyang pagbubuntis hanggang sa makapanganak.

Wala pang naiisip na name ang mag-asawang Juday at Ryan Agoncillo sa kanilang baby boy pero anang aktres ay malamang na magsimula ito sa letter L or J.

“I said J and L kasi, Johan is Johanna Louise, so most probably, maglalaro kami sa ganu’ng pangalan dahil we promised Johan and we told her na ’yung pangalan, isusunod namin sa kanya para meron din siyang alam mo ’yun, ’yung meron siyang participation sa buong proseso hanggang sa paglabas ng bata,” pahayag ni Juday nang makatsikahan namin sa presscon ng Hating Kapatid na movie nila ni Sarah Geronimo under Viva Films.

Kumusta naman ngayon si Ryan?

“Okay nama siya, very busy sa trabaho, hard-working father. Pero may mga times pa rin naman na nakakalabas pa rin naman kami. Hindi naman nawawala ang mga dates na ‘yun. May ganu’n pa rin.

“May mga flowers pa rin, pero alam niya kasi na pagkain talaga ang gusto ko ngayon, so, pag umuuwi sya, may dala-dala siyang pagkain. Alam niya kasi pag medaling-araw, doon ako nagugutom. So, para hindi na ako bababa ng kuwarto, pagdating niya galing sa trabaho, may dala na siyang food.”

Ang Hating Kapatid na ang last movie ni Juday ngayong taong ito since manganganak na nga siya sa October. Kung may trabaho pa raw na papasok, baka mga pictorials na lang at photo shoots.

“Kung may endorsement na pumasok, pwede pa, kung gusto nila akong i-shoot na ganito ako kalaki, bakit hindi, ’di ba? Pero most definitely, hindi na muna ako magteteleserye, siguro, one year muna akong magpapahinga sa TV, sa movie, baka din.

“Dedepende kasi ’yan kung makakabalik ba ako kaagad sa katawan ko right after I give birth, ’di ba? Pero ang masisigurado ko lang, hindi ako magmamadali, kasi, ang tagal kong hinintay ang pagdating ng baby, eh. So, ie-enjoy ko ’yung mga moments na nagbi-breast feed, nag-aalaga. ’yung nag-aalaga, ’yung paglaki ng bata. A year or so of taking a leave, baka.”

Right now ay may mga nagpaplano na raw ng baby showers for her pero halos kumpleto na rin siya sa gamit dahil namili na raw siya sa U.S. nang magbakasyon sila.

Siyempre, babalik pa rin siya sa showbiz pagkapanganak pero priority na siyempre ang pamilya.

“Basta kung kakayanin kong magtrabaho, magtatrabaho pa rin ako pero ang most of my time ay sa family talaga na since I’ve given a lot of time already in this business.”

Anyway, showing na ang Hating Kapatid sa July 14 mula sa direksyon ni Wenn Deramas.
